WOW, what an absolutely first rate tour company! Whenever we visit a new city, we always hire a tour company to point out the highlights for us. But we live in OK City and travel to Tulsa for weekend getaways a lot and have never done one, so this time I decided we’d get a tour of places we haven’t been…and I’m so glad it was with Tours of Tulsa…they knocked it out of the park!
Kelly, the owner, hooked the three of us up with a private 4-hour tour of downtown Tulsa to include the Boston Avenue Methodist Church, The Greenwood District, and the underground tunnels connecting most of downtown.
Our tour guide, Ronda, was amazing! She met us on time and gave us the insider’s tour of the cathedral, replete with the history of its builders and pointing out significant architectural design features and symbolism. From there we drove to the Greenwood District where she walked us through the entire history of the community and the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre…she knew it all! Then we walked through numerous tunnels connecting the bldgs downtown, where she highlighted the art deco motifs and the boom and bust competition of oil and banking magnates to outbuild each other for the tallest bldg in Tulsa!
We had a marvelous time and learned more about Tulsa in those four hours than we had in countless visits we’ve done on our own over the years. Like I said, we’ve worked with numerous tour companies all over the country, and Tours of Tulsa has been the best...
Read moreMy sister was visiting from Florida, so I scheduled a 3-hour tour. The tour is private so you go at your pace and see what you want to see! We wanted to see and learn about the history of Downtown Tulsa. Kelly was full of information and excitement. We loved the history and Art Deco throughout the buildings; going from one building to the next in underground tunnels… who knew the tunnels were even there?! The churches were beautiful and she was knowledgeable with rich history! Seeing the area of the Black Wall Street and Greenwood District and learning more about such devastation that took place, all part of Tulsa History. While all is public, I highly recommend Tulsa Tours for their wealth of information. I live in Tulsa and was so pleased with the tour. My sister and I throughly enjoyed and there truly is much more to see and learn about than what we saw and did. Look at the website, choose something of interest and go for it! You will not be disappointed. Thank you Kelly, we had...
Read moreI'm a native Tulsan and work for the Tulsa Police Department. We decided a tunnel tour would be a great group activity for us to learn more about Tulsa's history and get a new perspective of downtown. Most of our group had not taken this tour previously, so it was truly a new, unique experience. I don't think any of us knew what to expect, but it was so much fun! There isn't much in the way of old "creepy" tunnels that you're walking through, but you get to walk around underground quite a bit, learn the history of some of Tulsa's coolest buildings, and see some really beautiful architecture and design up close, while learning the stories behind a lot of the choices that were made back in the day. I learned a lot of history I had never heard before and highly recommend this tour! Everyone in our group seemed to have a...
