This is one of the nicer Home Depot stores around. It is a big store (with garden, rentals, pro area, etc) that is extremely clean and well maintained. The staff are knowledgeable overall, and they have great tips for those who already know a little bit about construction/home improvement. My hubby (who is super handy, with a construction background) absolutely loves this home depot and always leaves with new knowledge and a viable plan for unexpected, irregular jobs around the house.
I’m happy with the team at the paint counter, who always give friendly, helpful input. I’ve also noticed this location has hired more female employees in the last couple years, so the ratio of male to female staffers is pretty balanced, although most of the women seem to be placed as cashiers, with male staff working in the more technical spots on the floor. And this is my one concern about Hone Depot, and why I preferred Lowe’s (sad the Lowe’s on Jamboree is gone). In my opinion, the general vibe I get when shopping there, as a woman trying to solve a technical home improvement issue is: send your husband back instead. No one has directly said this to me, but I hear the way my “insider” hubby is treated vs my own interactions. Granted, he knows the technical specs of a who’s-it board and a whatnot bit, and I’m starting from a very rudimentary understanding of tools and supplies. But they seem annoyed having to get me up to speed when I need help. Eg if hubby has started the project and sends me for aesthetic stuff like hardware, and I have a technical question about clearance for mounting brackets, they say, “just have your husband come back when he gets a chance.” Um, no. My hubby is currently bracing joists, and I just need to know if this size hinge is sturdy enough for X size lumber he’s installing outside. I’m actually quite smart but inevitably feel stupid at this Hone Depot. More female employees with technical/construction skill would help, or just greater patience for us “outsiders.”
Other than that issue, it’s a great store which always has what we need, helpful staff who help hubby problem-solve, etc. ample parking, very convenient vehicle access to parking lot, nice...
Read moreSo I need a very basic item; an angle bracket. I find myself in the fasters aisle (aisle 20) and am not finding it. There is a pretty little lady also trying to find some screws and fasteners for her bike. We can't find anyone to help. I go to the register and ask for help. I went in the back where there's 4 guys shooting the sH|t in the back and ask them for help . "Oh, yeah, aisle 20, look on the end cap, it's there..." NOPE. I (we) are needing some help after 20 minutes on aisle 20 where all the screws and specialty fasteners are. Remember the frustration we've all had when looking for something very specific on aisle 20" We've all been there.
I keep asking where the "old guy who knows everything" is. Oh, he's on his lunch hour they said. Have I looked they asked. I just need a little help here (as does the girl still looking for her screws).
I flagged down one woman in the orange apron - who actually helped me. Sam. Even the register calling for help - didn't help me as much as you did. It's not her department, but that's ok. She found "the guy" who tells us the item I need is on aisle 15, where we find it immediately. A few minutes later I swing back by aisle 20 and she's helping the Girls With The Bike. Outstanding. Zero stars for the dudes in the back who didn't care, and bum-steered me to the end-cap. A million stars for Sam. Sam should be running this department, and fire "the dudes" in the back. As far as "the old guy" is concerned - I hope he had a great lunch - and thank him for helping Sam. All props for Sam. She understands that people, actually most people - need, or could use a little help at the...
Read moreI'm usually a big fan of home depot. My friends work in HD and this is go to place to buy pretty much anything for my home. I just moved into a new house so been going to HD near my house in Orange(K) store very often, they're very nice and helpful.
HOWEVER, this store, I walked in with a defective part from my ceiling fan. I brought in envelop that has receipt as well (along with about 50+ receipts from HD in past two months). Most cases when I have defective parts from a purchase, HD staff simply tell me to go bring it and they take out what I need in exchange of what I brought and I walk away, which thankfully only happens now and then. HERE, they had to ask me what's wrong with it, why it was wrong and gave me weird look. I told them, 'look, why do you think i'm standing here holding a crooked ceiling fan housing?, for sure it's not for fun'. They called supervisor who was behind them and he came and talk to me again, explained how ceiling fan was missing a screw AND the part I brought in is defective. He argued that they usually provide extra screws, OBVIOUSLY THEY DID NOT!!!! After my explanation, the said 'ok whatever!' and walked away. It was VERY RUDE!!!! Worst HD experience ever!!! Don't go here! They will treat you like thief who came to steal a screw because you got nothing better to do after spending $2,000+ on your home projects. Go to HD that treat you like you deserve.
I only went here because it's next to my work. I'm going back to my...
