I rarely write reviews but Iâm so disappointed by our recent experience with Runyans. We have used them for years and bought our engagement, wedding and anniversary rings through them. I brought my ring that we purchased there many years ago in for repair and resizing after the very kind jeweler cut it off. The sales person proceeded to tell me I didnât purchase the ring there as they donât âset diamondsâ how mine was set. I just responded to look it up in the system if she was concerned about whether I purchased it there or not. They kept my ring for repair for some time due to being short staffed (which I get and itâs totally fine) and when we went back to retrieve it upon inspection I noticed it was missing a diamond. The sales lady Cameron took it back to have it looked at to see if they could repair it. It was our anniversary so we decided to look at diamonds to replace my center stone while we were there. We picked a few from a site that we wanted to see since there were none in store. They had to have them brought in and so we said we could come back the following weekend. When we arrived the following weekend Cameron gave my husband a ring which he immediately noticed it was not my ring. She actually gave him my mother in laws ring in error. Moving forward we gathered my actual ring and went to look at the stones we ordered. When we sat down Cameron brought over earrings and lab stones and we paused and said we were there to look at the diamonds we ordered. She then went upstairs for a bit and then came back and said sorry that Erik didnât order the diamonds in for us. She then said she was off sick for a few days so they werenât ordered. At this point Iâm feeling like our time is not important to them and a call would have been helpful to let us know. My husband convinces me that we should order the diamonds again and come back the following weekend to look at them. I ask that she call and let me know when they arrive so Iâm assured they are in house. We again drive downtown today and we are presented with diamonds that are 2-3k more than what we explained to Cameron we were looking to purchase. She explained that the ones we wanted to order in werenât actually what they portrayed them as online (color and clarity) and that one was probably sold. She then said she could order in other diamonds and we could come back the following weekend. At this point Iâm wondering how do I trust that the diamonds they are ordering in are actually what they are reflecting based on what she has told us? She literally told us that they werenât actually what she showed us online from their diamond dealers. This would be our 5th trip to the store and based on the sequence of events Iâm not convinced that it would have fared any better. This should have been a fun experience but it was far from that. Iâm disappointed that I referred this store my daughter and her fiancĂ©e who just bought their engagement and wedding ring set there. If I was rating only the jeweler I would give higher stars (even though it was missing a diamond I get that things happen) but the experience was beyond disappointing. We left feeling like our time was not valued, we werenât heard and couldnât trust what the salesperson...
Read moreHad a very bad experience working with Tani to design a custom engagement ring.
This would have been the 2nd ring we purchased at this location after having a good experience picking out a promise ring. We wanted to do business here as itâs local.
Tani misrepresented herself on our first meeting giving us the impression that she was creating the cad for the ring so we stuck with her longer than we should have - her sole job is customer service and our complaint is on the service alone.
Misses on her end include: Not having a cathedral setting on the first design after we had said thatâs what we want. Communicating timelines several times that were never met and not following up with us after her own timeline had lapsed. She blamed this on the team but a followup email would have been sufficient. Showing us a diamond that didnât meet my requirements after having us wait and go to the store to see it. I wasnât looking for a yellowish diamond. Not sending updated pdfs after correcting the design and resending the old one when asked for the updated one. Dismissing questions my girlfriend asked about how to best secure the center stone. Giving an apology that didnât acknowledge her mistakes but instead focused on where her team caused delays and how we didnât communicate well enough when we let her know we decided to go with another jeweler.
The other jeweler we went with was awesome and helped us complete a design with several personal touches in under a week while we wasted a month of back and...
Read moreI chose Erik Runyan's because I used them in past years and I'm acquainted with their quality work. I'm handing down me and my late husband's wedding rings to our Granddaughter and her fiancé. The unique design of my rings and the fact that they were soldered together, needed to go up one size and have the tips on the center stone of the engagement ring redone, I didn't want to entrust the work to just anyone. I worked with Katrina from the beginning and will work with her again. My husband's ring was a wide gold band that I'd sized down so that I could wear but it needed to go up two sizes which meant gold would need to be added. I sat with Katrina as we discussed what I wanted done and if she wasn't sure about a step she checked with the jeweler.
Today I picked the rings up. Seeing my wedding rings took me back to the early hours of my 57th birthday and when my husband asked me to marry him. Honestly, I was blown away by how beautiful they were, including my husband's wedding band. Katrina found the perfect ring box that would hold both rings and a wave of memories washed over me. I can't wait to give them to our Granddaughter and her fiancé.
I strongly recommend Erik Runyan Jewelers and their knowledgeable Associate Katrina, for your jewelery needs be it repairs or to find that special gift. They are located in the Hudson building and there's free parking for clients visiting the businesses located in it. Thank you Katrina for all of your help and being a part of the story of...
