I wouldn’t recommend coming here. I’ve been here twice for the same ring, and both times i was disappointed. The first time I brought it in I had them fuse my engagement ring and wedding band together, as well as replace a stone that fell out and set it for me, and it took a month instead of the two week estimate they gave me. I work in customer service in a shop that requires custom ordering, so I understand and didn’t hold it against them.
However after about a week of wearing my ring, one of the other stones fell out. I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to enjoy the ring at its full potential. Upon further inspection, I found out that the stone fell out due to them using the prong that holds the stone in as a fusing place for the two rings together, and the prong didn’t work for the stone anymore.
The band in question was a custom designed ring, and the stone that fell out was a moss agate, and I knew I needed to contact the original jeweler (out of state) and order two of the stones from them. 1 for the set, 1 just in case.
I waited a few months and brought the ring back to them. I explained that I’ve had a problem with this ring before, and I asked them to please make sure that all the prongs on the other stones are correct so I have no more failings. I brought in both the replacement stones, and they told me it would be a week wait.
After over a week of hearing nothing, I called them. The gentleman on the phone told me to wait a couple more days and it would be ready for pickup. I waited about 4 days and called again. After a while a looking, he told me that they had lost my order but it was now on the top of the list and would be done the next day. I told him that I needed it done by that Friday for an event. I waited two more days, called again, and the said they’d start “working on it today”. Frusterated, as it was now Thursday, when I hadn’t heard anything from them after being pushed off for the 4th time, I called again about half an hour to closing and they said it would be ready in a few minutes for pick up.
I drove down there and went in to pick k up my ring. It’s now 15 min till they close at 6. When he got me my order, an older gentleman came up to the counter and told me he broke the other stone, and then turned around and walked away. Great, so now I have no backup. I was really surprised when he offered no other words, explanation, or even a compensation for breaking a stone I’d paid for. I’m not a fan of confrontation and was just so shocked that I didn’t say anything. I put the ring on my finger to examine it, and the stone that i had asked them to fix was FALLING OUT.
I showed the man that was helping me that the stone was literally falling out as we spoke, and he examined it, shrugged, and said “yeah good thing you caught that”. He then goes and speaks with the older gentleman, who takes the ring into the back room with him.
It is now 5 minutes to closing, and I feel guilty for taking up their time and rushing them, but I did tell them several times that I need the ring by the date, and they’d pushed it off so many times that it was now a time crunch.
I waited for about 10 min while he fixed the stone in place, and I left with it as is. I immediately noticed that it was still having trouble, but left because they were closing and I was fed up and frusterated.
I’ve been debating writing a review, and after 4 days I’m still upset about the whole thing so here I am. The stone is still wobbly so I’m not wearing my ring, and in order to “fix” the prong and set it in place in the hurried state of 10 minutes, the metal on my other ring is damaged now as well. He pulled some of the metal down over the prong, and is extremely obvious that a chunk is missing from the ring.
I’m going to a different jeweler to fix it properly. Never returning. 2 stars because They did a good job cleaning and making it shine tho. My interactions with them were kind, but I also minimized my displeasure quite a bit to not...
Read moreMy wife took my wedding band in to have two smaller diamonds added on either side of the center stone . Should have been an east task. Work started on 11/25. My wife picked up ring on 12/2. She noticed a problem with the alignment of the stones but didn't say anything. When I got it I noticed it right away without my glasses on. The work was very poorly done as the alignment wasn't even close. She took the ring back to be repaired and was told the work would be completed on 12/9. On 12/9 my wife called and was told the ring would be ready 12/15 but no later then 12/16. Now I understand with the holidays things can get busy. 12/16 turned into 12/17. On 12/18 I went back in and again was told the ring would be done tomorrow. That's when I stated that I would be picking up my ring tomorrow. An hour later my wife received a call that the ring was done. When I went back in I asked the jeweler, why as a professional, when you knew that the work that you performed was not your best work was it sent out as done? The jeweler stated, he waited for a reaction to see if my wife noticed that the stones were horribly misaligned and when she said nothing we figured she doesn't notice just let it go. My wife went there on her mothers recommendation that this was a jeweler that had a very good reputation. I understand that mistakes happen and you don't get it right 100% of the time, but as a PROFESSIONAL who cares about their Reputation and has a long time standing in the community should have told my wife, look we are not happy with the way your ring turned out, give us some more time and we will make it right. It's obvious that their Quality of work means nothing to them. If you have a piece that is very special and want the work done right there are better Jewelers who care about their reputations and will not return your jewelry until it is done to their standers...
Read moreMy wife and I have bought several pieces of jewelry from Joe and his store, as well as having repairs made to some of my wife's older jewelry. The prices are always very good and the work is excellent.
Recently, I brought in a watch for gasket service and battery replacement. It is a nice watch that I'm fond of, but some time after getting it back from the store we had a downpour that caused our outside storm drain to clog. I cleared the debris, unaware of submerging my watch. When I returned inside, it had water inside.
I occasionally repair old ship clocks and have some familiarity with watches, so I removed the back to discover the gasket had not been replaced, and in fact, was cracked and cemented in place. I stewed about it for some time, and eventually returned to My Jewelers with the entire mess in a baggie.
They were very apologetic, and promised to send it to a different watchmaker for repair. I offered to pay, since the watchmaker was apparently at fault and not their store, but they would not hear of it.
Long story short, the other watchmaker needed some time to track down parts for this old watch, and it was returned to me in perfect running condition.
These are the people you want to do business with. Old school. Honest, responsible, and more than fair both in service and price. Highest...
