The Domaine at Hawthorn Row — Attraction in Vernon Hills

My fiance and I were really hoping to love our experience here but it ended up being the opposite. We had issues with our upstairs neighbors for 7 months and addressed it monthly with management and it took us giving our 60 days to take us seriously and finally the issue stopped. Management would confused us with different tenants when we addressed an issue regarding our ac not circulating well and got defensive saying someone came when no one did. then ignored the fact that they mixed us with another tenant. We were told in person after 6 months we can change units for a fee which we were okay with and at our 6 month mark via email they changed their mind and told us we weren’t allowed to. There are so many other things like rule changes, huge lack of communication, work spaces having to be booked at a 2 hour max and the kitchen having a heavy renting fee to have a party in. For the price of the place, there’s a lot of rules and many other residents have also agreed that it feels like you’re not getting what you pay for and it “sometimes feels worse than a dorm.” Which when someone told me that it truly is the best description. And if you’re wondering, you cant light candles in your own apartment. I gave this place SO many chances and truthfully feel like I had to write this review so people can read this...

For the money that is paid here it has been very disappointing. Yes it’s nice and new but not worth it at all. Utility door was always locked came home one day it was cracked open by maintenance crew/staff without permission to enter. They will enter whenever and whatever time they want so make sure your valuables are hidden! Garage door always left open or broken for months . Elevators during winter time were most of the time non functional. Rosa extremely rude and unprofessional . They will ask for required documentation for renters insurance then go on vacation and they will charge you more for their insurance because of miscommunication on Rosa’s part. It is their job to check their emails and make sure everyone on the same page to avoid errors. Snow was not plowed in garage top floor had to tell them to do their job. They never answer the phone. Dog poop all over the community. Emails of what is not acceptable always sent to residents such as “ no lighting candles”. Apartments poorly built, lack quality hallways not maintained , walls all dirty and chipped. Management doing a terrible job and majority of tenants very disappointed in this place. If you want incompetent front desk staff, lost packages, paper thin walls between your neighbors, broken garage door, etc then this is your place to live. I have lived here for a year and I tell everyone that comes by to run away. It’s horrible. For a new building, I can hear my neighbors through the wall talking and watching tv. I can hear people next unit over using the shower and bathroom. Faucets in bathrooms will spray you every time you turn on water. So annoying. Garage door has been broken so many times that homeless people have been chilling in the garage. Front desk main manager Rosa is so unprofessional and incompetent as well as her “ducklings” who act like they don’t know what you’re talking about when you reach to them for help. You can’t have a door mat outside your door in hallway. You can’t burn candles in your unit. They don’t allow grills on balcony. No freedom to do whatever you want. I pay $4000 a month and can’t wait to move out in a month. They wanted to raise my rent by $1000 to match my neighbors underneath me who pay $5200!!!!!! Insane!!!!! No...
