It’s fine for what it is. Those who haven’t seen what it looked like pre-2015 will never know how incredible of a mall it used to be, compared to what it was, it’s mediocre now. Used to have an entire second floor solely dedicated to the food court, there was endless options for food, including sit-in restaurants such as Johnny Rockets. Now there’s only 5 restaurants in the main food court to choose from, not including the outside dining options. There used to be a ginormous 2 story carousel that was the highlight of the mall, it was stunning and whenever people thought of the mall, that’s what they thought of. And then they dismantled it and shipped it away somewhere, and replaced it with… miniature carousels with only 3 horses and all it does is spin, the horses don’t even go up and down. The original carousel not only had the horses, it had spinning tea cups and beautiful 2 people seats so you could sit next to your beloved. Now if you’d like to enjoy the carousels the mall has to offer, you better be aged 12 or under. Well, what about the children’s play area? Sad. That’s the only way I can describe it. Of course it’s still fun for children, but once again it cannot even be compared to the children’s play area that came before it. The original was huge, instead of like, the size of a small store which is the size of the new one. The reason for why the original play area was so large was because it was “under the sea” themed, and it followed that theme to a T. There was a humongous whale that kids could play inside, an octopus kids could climb on, and so on and so forth. The most fun things in the new play area are a teeny tiny slide, and a television, which of course is quite entertaining to the kids of this era, but if we’re being honest, if kids really wanna watch a screen they’ll borrow their mom’s iPhone 15 and watch cocomelon. As for cleanliness, at first glance the mall appears rather clean. Some of the mall maintenance employees are really great at their job of maintaining the mall, but others just aren’t even trying. I enter the mall early for my job and sometimes when I go to use the restroom, the toilet seats are all up, which indicates that they’ve been cleaned. Good! …until I put the toilet seat down and it’s covered in… well, you know what. Why would you indicate that it’s clean when it’s very clear it’s still totally unsanitary?? I go to wash my hands and dry them, and the paper towel dispenser is completely empty. Even though the trash bin underneath it has been emptied and replaced with a new trash bag, which means they had the time to take out the trash, but not add more paper towels? As I stated, not all of the maintenance crew is awful at their job, but there’s just some things that make me wonder just… why. I still gave it 3 stars as it is indeed the best mall in the area and is in fact still thriving and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, and if the mall ever does go down I will be very sad. Even though they completely changed the mall for the worse and should’ve just kept it the way it was, which was perfect and everyone loved it, instead of spending possibly millions to remodel it for absolutely no reason, it is my childhood mall and I have great memories here, so I would be very sad if it ever does become a dead mall (although definitely super fun to urban explore lol). I may be very critical, but they did get rid of the most fun and interesting parts of the mall in exchange for “modernity”. And as I said in the beginning, it’s fine for what it is. There are way better malls, but this one is ours. VB rules
Read moreThe shopping experience is wonderful. The atmosphere is serene and relaxing. Only thing that I didn't enjoy was being a security officer....oh wait a glorified customer service representative that wore a security uniform. When I was there, everyday I had to relinquish my personal property which was my personal cell phone and I couldn't keep anything on my person's to drink. In a 8 hour shift I was only allowed to get sips of water. I don't know about you, but that isn't enough to keep properly hydrated and when I went on my 30 minute break, I only had about 15 minutes to actually enjoy my break. Not to mention there are some people that thoroughly love micromanaging and "spying" on the glorified customer service representatives. I understand that that everyone has a job that they have to do, I get that, I honestly do. But what they don't have is having faith and trust in the people's integrity. I could go on forever but it'll be like beating a dead horse. Oh by the way, to make this clear, at no point in this review did I slander anyone or anything. I didn't bad mouth anyone and I certainly didn't name any names. It was something that I had to get off my chest. Something that I wasn't allowed to do when I was there. Anyways have a great day and I like the improvements that are underway. Oh one more thing, if they're not being destructive or disruptive, don't have the kids that's under the age of 18 evicted from the mall. That is where most of the revenue comes from. That was another aspect of working there that I didn't like. Don't allow some bad apples...
