It was a joy working here for the past two years. From caring for patrons to keeping the park clean, and inspecting amenities, could really say that each evening ended in positivity. This park has great staff, management, and patrons. Recieved this letter just before leaving.⬇️
"I live in New Kent County and don’t get out of the office much. Last evening at about 6:00, I visited Veterans Park to meet some family visiting from out of town. Not that I was expecting anything less but after arriving at the park, I certainly was proud to say I work for James City County. The general appearance of the park was great. The Park Attendant was cleaning tables and picking up litter (although I didn’t see any) and he looked like he cared about what his was doing.
Kudo’s to all for all the work that goes in to it and to the Park Attendant with his positive demeanor. I have to say, at one point I was waiting for the video crew to show up and start filming the commercial for the County...
Read moreThis park is also called "Kidsburg" and it earns every letter of that name. It's dominated by the playground, which is massive. Like everything else in the area, it honors the past, this time by shaping the play structures as sailing ships and colonial buildings. While the playground is what you'll go for, there's a generously sized grassy field adjacent to the play area that's perfect for picnics and playing ball, Frisbee, etc..
The bathrooms are centrally located, though I did not go into them during my visit, so I can't comment on them beyond their proximity to everything else.
Parking is adequate. It could be bigger, but it isn't...
Read moreThis is a great place to take your children of all ages. There is a seperated area designed specifically for toddlers so they dnt get bumped on the bigger play area. There's enough swings to keep busy. A pirate ship to climb on and explore. Even has a zipline designed strictly for children. You dnt need a safety harness to use it. It's low enough to the ground and is a slight decline to keep you moving. After you ride it, you pull it back up to the starting point for the nxt person to ride. This is a pet friendly park with an open field to play or have a picnic. A party area (indoors) that you can rent. They have restrooms, water fountains, and a snack machines for those who stay longer than planned. Very nice place to go. My children enjoyed it very much. We will definitely...
