Brigadier General Casimir Pulaski Statue, Washington DC — Attraction in Washington

One of fourteen statues in DC commemorating heroes of the Revolutionary War, this statue was built in 1910 to honor the “Father of the American Cavalry”. Pulaski was a member of the Polish nobility, who fought for the patriots after having met Franklin in Paris. Pulaski was later promoted to brigadier general by the US Congress after proving himself in battle. Pulaski was killed at the Battle of Savannah.
