We cannot speak from personal experience about the Tower because when we tried to visit on April 1, 2025, a sign was posted on the locked door, stating “The Old Post Office Tower is temporarily closed. We do not know what time when the tower will reopen. Please call 202-426-6841 for status updates. We apologize for any inconvenience.” This notice didn’t appear on their website, which would have been nice to warn visitors about beforehand. In any case, a friend (and D.C. resident) had told us the tower is pretty cool, so I will rate it 5 stars simply because I have to rate it in order to post this information. I sent a notice to Google Maps that this place might be temporarily closed. Too bad for us, hope others have more luck. Hopefully DOGE didn’t get to it first.

Such a great free experience!!!! The top is open air - just keep in mind depending on the weather. It was freezing and windy the day we went but the sky was clear and beautiful! The first floor is a pretty cool little hallway museum. And there are park rangers who help every step of the way! We walked in with our stroller, but then you have to leave it with security before you take the elevator. Security will check out bags. It was difficult to find 😅 it’s like in an alley way. I shared a photo of the entrance - search sushi nakazawa if you need help! It’s the door next to it. Experience was toddler friendly!

By far, the best views you will have in Washington DC. Fair warning, though it was extremely hard to find the entrance to the Bell tower as it was tucked away in the back of the Waldorf Astoria. I did make a video below to show you how to get in. When you walk in there are restrooms and a security check from there. You take an elevator. There was a short line. After the first elevator, there was another short wait and then we got on another elevator and went to the top. It was extremely Wendy at the top, but the views were gorgeous. I definitely recommend going on a sunny clear day
