What a day trip we had to Washington D.C.! We walked around the National Mall braving freezing rain and strong icy winds. We were transported to Space and Americas early flights at the Smithsonian National Air and Apace Museum. We knew later we would be keeping our Alibi's at The International Spy Museum. Our Itinerary had included a reprieve from the weather, the cold, and our feet. This retreat was the L'Enfant Plaza. We were excited to have 40 different restaurant options for us to choose from and a place we could recover from the morning's tough travels. After all It not only had the largest food court in the metro area it also had it's own metro station as well as being directly next to the spy museum, our next destination. Imagine our surprise when we wearily trudge in to find the first few stores closed. Imagine our greater surprise when we turn the corner and see a half mile long hallway with nothing but closed gates. Not a single person. We were alone, in a mall, at 2:30 pm, on a Saturday. This Mall is closed on the weekends. Sure wish the website said that! The exclusion is that there are 3 fast food places open for a few hours. The Subway closed at 3 pm while we were there. On their website they describe the mall as having a bright spirit which I suppose couldn't be more accurate because spirits are the only people here. TLDR : The Highlight of this Mall...

As an individual who was riding in on the Metro on my way to James Smithson's Smithsonian Museum of American History, I had to transfer at the L'Enfant Plaza station, and found the station to be a serviceable station adorned with an upper and lower level format in addition to two separate platforms for the Green and Yellow Lines on the upper level, which helped with my departure from the upper level coming back from the District of Columbia.
Despite my visits often being brief at stations such as L'Enfant Plaza for epitome, stations such as these make me aspire to return to the Washington Metro on every major trip into the area for Smithsonian Museums, the National Mall and other historical...
Read moreWe are nearing the end of a short break as a family of 3, 1st time in Washington and we are sightseeing. We have been very impressed with the hotel, the staff, amenities and the overall feel. Our room had 2 king beds and is very spacious. We had fridge, coffee machine, air con and safe, only thing was very few hangers. The room was spotless and the beds were very comfortable. We have used the pool on the 12th floor which was a very welcome relief to the heat! The hotel is spotless, the staff have been very friendly, a special shout out to the breakfast and reception team!
We had breakfast included in our room rate, I would say the evening menu could be improved so we went to the wharf for evening meals which is only about 1 mile and if wasn't so hot, we could easily walk. Ubers are cheap, price rises at offices closing for the evening but soon drops to normal (about $4).
Hotel itself is very central, right above the metro but you dont hear a thing. Not far from anything and we walked most places, unfortunately the heat has stopped us being able to do all we would have liked but that just means we would need to come back!
We would definately...
