I had a wonderful experience with the spa- had a fantastic eyebrow wax- but not so stellar time with my haircut. The stylist was running late from her previous appointment and although I kept telling her I didn't mind waiting, she moved me upstairs from the lounge (where I was happy to read magazines) to her station after she handed her other client off to someone else to finish up. Before I could sit down to talk about what I wanted, I had to ask her to clean up because the chair was disgustingly covered in hair. I could see she was trying to make up the lost time but she really shouldn't have encouraged me to sit down until she cleaned. After a very brief chart, I was quickly moved to the wash station to wait again for a person to open up- there were only two people washing hair and the stylist returned to her other client. I would have preferred waiting downstairs in the lounge than awkwardly in the wash station because, let's face, we all understand things get hectic but let's try to not make them awkward too.
The shampoo experience was nice because they massage your head but the girl did end up putting more shampoo in my ear than in my hair at one point and down the back of my neck. I was able to talk through the desired cut again with the stylist before she started, which was really reassuring since I'm donating my hair in two months and wanted to be sure she didn't cut too much off but did get all the dead ends- we agreed on an inch at most to be cut. The cut and style was fine, normal, nothing special. She said she only had to cut half an inch and suggested products for me, which I ended up buying, but did put on this shine product that made my hair feel greasy and gross.
I was surprised at how much the cut costs when it came time to pay. I knew they were expensive but for half an inch, a 32 minute wait, and only 25 minutes with the stylist, it was a bit ridiculous. I feel foolish now for going there because I found so many dead ends on my way home (she really should have gone with the inch off instead of half) that I really just paid for someone to waste my time and wash my hair.
Overall, I loved the spa experience, which is why I'm giving it two stars, but the salon (haircut) portion was below average and overpriced. I don't think I'll return until they clean up the salon (it was so dirty and a complete opposite of the lovely spa downstairs), learn to schedule their clients properly, and drop their...
Read moreA very disappointing chain of events leads me to this one star review. (First-time customer, short cut) First, I waited 25 minutes in this basement waiting room to have the stylist surprised I was waiting because she was waiting on me? Okay… Not sure what happened there but long waits can happen.
Then, I get sat down. The stylist is not personable or friendly (except with the fellow staff). Like we literally didn’t have a single conversation. She asks me what I’m looking to do and proceeds to argue with me on the length of my hair from a picture I show her (a picture of me from my last cut).
Okay, weird for an Aveda salon, but it’s a 6pm appointment so I get it, long day. Then we get to the actual cut… 15 minutes (shorter than my wait time). It was rough. I don’t hate it but I would argue there was some creative freedom with the length. That’s to say, it doesn’t match the picture I showed, ironic. There was a lot of weird funny things that happened in the 15 min. The stylist blow dried my cut hair right into my face. She used a single pair of large scissors (for everything). Left one side of my hair longer than the other. And then tells me to remember to come in a month and “remind me of who you are, because I see so many people I won’t remember you” In my head, I’m screaming you don’t have to worry about that…
All of this would be forgivable if I didn’t pay $80 (BEFORE TIP) for the experience. Imagine paying $80 for a 15 minute haircut that you waited double for. While I was waiting, I debated leaving. This is a lesson in trusting your gut. It felt like a Great clips cut worth $20. I will say since it was my first time I was gifted a travel size Aveda hand lotion (maybe this should calculate into my evaluation of the cost lol) The front desk seemed nice enough. This place feels like it’s great for returning people with their go to stylist. But new people just be cautious who you...
Read moreunprofessional staff, incredibly rude!!!! I recently purchased a living social deal for laser hair removal at this clinic and have never seen such poor customer service.
On my first attempt at an appointment, I called while on my way and was informed that my appointment had been cancelled due to mechanical problems - they made no attempt to let me know this, and if I had not called to confirm I would only have found out when I arrived at the clinic.
I rescheduled for the next week only to find on arrival that they had neglected to register my appointment in their calendar - once again I was unable to receive service and was met with a rude and dismissive staff that refused to admit having made a scheduling mistake.
Nevertheless I rescheduled for a third attempt. I had a personal emergency while on the way to this appointment and called to let them know I was going to be late. I arrived twenty five minutes late and was told my appointment was void and that I was to be charged for the session - despite having twice mishandled my appointment in the past they showed no willingness to compromise or reschedule, and again proved rude and condescending.
Even worse, after trying to explain my situation on the phone to management, they let me know that I was not welcome to return but would still be charged for my remaining appointment - in the end I never received any service at all but was charged for two sessions $99!!!
Throughout they proved unprofessional and very impolite - I was hung up twice while speaking to management and was belittled and insulted by their representatives on multiple occasions. I will never again be using...
