As someone that’s in the military, I have received countless fades in my time—good and bad. And this was a bad fade. To someone that’s less experienced in receiving them or from a distance, it *might* look like a “good enough” fade—but to someone that’s received at least 2 a month for 7+ years, it’s not. First off, there’s barely any fade—it just goes from short to way longer so abruptly. It’s like my hairline was just moved up. A big way you can tell this is by the looking at my hair right by the ears—it protrudes out instead of gradually getting shorter up the side of my head. Secondly, the shears work was crazy. Just haphazardly cut my hair, no blending at alllllll. The side of my head is so off-balanced and choppy, it’s terrible. Now, I would expect this from a $20-30 haircut, but $70?? I don’t care about the free drink—I want a solid fade! I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but I’m convinced these 5-star reviews came from either people that don’t know good fades OR I got a really bad barber :/ I’m only giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the customer service I received was great. They were all really nice and attentive and facilities were clean. Just very disappointed with the haircut and likely won’t be back.

What a horrible experience. It’s like they have never done a haircut before. Paul cut my hair and it could not have gone worse. First he asked how I would like my hair done. I told him what I normally do and showed him photos. When I showed him photos, he said how am I supposed to know from a photo?! Then he proceeded to cut my hair and insisted on shampooing my hair first. He was rough with my head while washing it. While he was cutting my hair, he was silent. No talking or chatting - it was just awkward. He was cutting my sideburns and asked where I wanted them to be cut. Then he cut them so fast they were crooked and asked how he did. I asked for a fade in the back and what I got was a sloppy cut. He asked how it felt. When I get a hair cut, I care how it looks. When I was checking out, the receptionist shamed me for not tipping more and was rude. I will never be back. Paul was an absolute horrible hair cutter. He was rude and unprofessional. This was the 4th time I’ve been to Scissors & Scotch. Never again. Don’t pay for a $60 haircut when you can get a $25 cut down the street with better quality.

I have been a customer of Scissors and Scotch NOMA for nearly two years, which amounts to about 90 appointments! I appreciate the vibe and energy that Scissors and Scotch offers, but what stands out most to me is my master barber, EL. He's also the manager of this location. I appreciate his consistency, his attention to detail, and his aim to please ( I witness this this treatment with all of his clients). I consider myself a very nice guy, but I'm extremely detailed and particular about my haircuts, and EL—each time—takes the time to understand my needs and desires. I truly appreciate him! The way he shapes you up is really cool, almost like an Etch A Sketch. Most importantly, he loves his job; he loves cutting hair, and it's evident each time I'm in his chair.

I went in for the first time ten years haircut. While I wouldn’t usually write such a review I am compelled to since they don’t have a private feedback system and I honestly was a bit intimidated to give negative feedback on site. I arrived on time for the haircut was escorted to the seat for the cut. The stylist seemed nice initially, but as he started cutting my hair he was very rough with the trimmer as well as the comb he used. I tried telling him once but he said oh it must be the extension of the trimmer and proceeded to swap the trimmers. The haircut occurred like he was in a rush to catch a train or something. The stylist also kept moving my chair to get a better angle but I would’ve appreciated some heads-up or just if he was a bit slow with it. I did receive the hot towel and shampoo/ conditioner treatment. I was impressed by the product used but he was again rough with the shampoo and conditioner and moved very quickly. Upon returning to seat he applied product which seems to have a high shine on hair that has been dried only with a towel and is still visible wet. NOT MOIST, WET. The it was again a rough application of the product and my hair was styled very different than an old photo of mine which I had shown multiple times at the beginning. I had to ask him to trim a side of my partition which he did not seemed to be happy to do. Very rough use of the trimmer without any regard for my skin or if it hurt me. Once he was done and I could tell it looked decentish where I can come home and correct the style trim certain parts on my own I left the seat asked him for which shampoo and conditioner he used as that was the only plus point. When going to pay he stood right there as I was told the total price of the shampoo I planned on purchasing. The lady at the front desk asked me how much I’d like to tip and I could see my stylist still standing there waiting to hear what I had to say. I gave a percentage number which I believe was entered as a dollar amount( I found out after receiving my bill after I reached home in my mailbox.)At that point he proceeded to walk away and other customers waited for their turn right behind me. I went ahead and paid my bill without raising further alarm as I was just done with the place and wanted to leave. Honestly I am glad I have trimmer and some devices at home to correct the haircut but I shall never be going back. I’ve received better treatment at barbershops that are not as fancy. I was inclined to change my barbershop as this brand came with a promise to give you an experience and I had come with the full intention of staying for drinks. But the way things proceeded today I have been reassured that this location for the brand may not be as nice as it appears. I am rating it 2 stars for the quality of hair shampoo, conditioner and the essential oil scent in the hot towel. I did not received a neck razor shave which was promised in the ten year as well and overpaid for a haircut and experience I wish I didn’t have. Someone needs to take accountability for my...

If you're short on time, all you need to know is that this was possibly the worst haircut experience I've ever had, especially for the price. Bad haircut, mediocre service, and the cocktail experience is like a 2.5/10. Otherwise, keep reading to see why I gave them one star.

I paid for the entry level service listed on their website (the "Ten Year," whatever that means) — nearly $50 — and did not receive most of what is supposed to come with it. No shampoo/conditioning, no hot towel shave. At no point did the words “Ten Year” even come out of the barber’s mouth. Did they know what service they’re supposed to be rendering?

Then there's the haircut. I had to come home and cut leftover, dangling hair myself! The barber himself admitted he hadn’t done a lot of hair like mine (long hair), and after checking both sides of my hair while looking at me straight-on, notices that one side is significantly shorter than the other and goes, "well, that should be fine." Umm??? What??? I couldn't see how bad it was until I got home or I would have said something.

Anyways, the drink at the end (Irish coffee with...Jameson) did nothing to soothe me after that terrible haircut. The two emails I sent asking for a refund went completely unanswered, but to be fair this company has no way to be contacted for customer service...lol.

I ended up walking over to Great Clips a couple days later and got a waaaaay better experience for less than half the price. Best part is they said they've had countless people come over from Scissors and Scotch to get their haircut fixed. Maybe another barber or S&S location would have provided a better experience but...do you even want to give them a shot at this point? What a terrible first (and last) impression. Won't be coming back to pay $60 for a dogwater...

I got a good enough haircut, but this was not worth the price I paid ($108 out the door). At that price I have higher expectations than a standard haircut experience. I’d describe my experience overall by saying the staff didn’t really seem to care about me or the service they provided. I arrived on time and had to wait more than 15 minutes for my stylist to come out. I ordered the ‘Ten Year’ as a first time customer which is supposed to come with a back of neck razor shave and I didn’t get that. I also didn’t get offered any kind of drink with my haircut, when the website states “all of our services include a drink! We'll have premium liquors, handcrafted cocktails, beers on tap and coffee waiting.” With the haircut itself, gentleman cutting my hair used too much pressure with the electric shaver to the point where it was kind of painful- I’ve never experienced anything like that at any other haircut. He also would spin the chair to get to another side of my head, but started cutting/trimming while the chair was still spinning… Finally, when I was finished and went to pay and saw the price ($90 before tip), I asked if this reflected the first time haircut discount or not, and the woman at the front who seemed like she didn’t want to be there or talk to me at all, rudely stated that it did in a condescending way, as if I was in the wrong for even asking that question. I had added on the beard trim at the last minute (which is just an electric shaver trim, no shaving cream or razor usage) and didn’t realize it was $32 for that, which is why I asked about the price. Overall, this was way too expensive for an experience where I am made to feel like I am an inconvenience to these folks. I will not be coming back and can’t recommend...
