I gave the high rating because the staff at Barnes and Noble went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. First, I called the store ahead of my arrival to inquire if they had any karaoke cd's. When I did a Google search for "karaoke cd's near me" I was shocked Barnes and Noble came up. I had no idea they carried these items. When the associate answered the phone I explained what I was looking for and she quickly went to work. Within a few minutes she returned to our phone conversation and said the items would be at the front service desk.
Then when I arrived I was greeted cheerfully and promptly. The associate handed me the reserved cd's. To my surprise there were six of them. After looking at the songs and titles I realized some of the lyrics would not be appropriate for younger children. (I had purchased a karaoke machine for my boyfriends children for Christmas.) I went back to the music department and spoke with an associate named Joe. He was superb! Immediately Joe checked on the computer for Disney karaoke cd's. Then he went to the wall pulled what he had, along with a Christmas CD, and handed them to me. I thanked him profusely as his knowledge and efficiency was going to make for a rockstar Christmas. Overall, it was nice to see such professional, cheerful, and accommodating associates during the holiday season. Furthermore, they all went above and beyond to meet me needs. In the future Barnes and Noble will be my go to location for music, books, and anything in between. Thank you Barnes and Noble, and all your caring associates, for making my holiday shopping...
Read moreUpdated late October, 2022. Yes Starbucks pulled out of joint partnership with B & N at this location. Oh well. Hopefully B & N can attract a franchise like Dunkin Doughnuts or Shipleys, to fit right nicely in their vacant space next door to them. There is something about freshly brewed coffee in a bookstore!
Updated April 28, 2022: Down half a star to 4.5 stars my way! Some changes are here, recognized on today’s visit and they are not for the betterment of their regular customers or for B&N gold card carrying members. It looks like I want be updating my membership now in May. Besides their stalled collaboration with Starbucks. The entrance inside Starbucks was shut off and roped off, to the public via the B & N store entrance. (See video).
Rather, The end to cookies, sweets and no coffee anymore,if you are shopping at a retail book chain store that evokes that aura, in their usual seasonal and feel good holiday senses.
There is No more red signs for (markdowns), or any area for their discontinued or their scratch and dent items like their bound journals and books marked down. As there was in 2021.
The upside is the L.P. Media vinyl area is finally getting in more new stock, especially old school metal. And more assortment of turntables.
Vinyl never gets old. It is a treasure hunt crate or...
Read moreI can spend hours in this store. Book stores are like Disney World to me. With the advanced cell phones today, information is so readily available, but it hasn't always been that way. Before the internet was available and even after because, realistically, before 2g cellular service, the phone was not a reasonable alternative to home base computing or old school libraries and retail bookstores. I would spend hours in bookstores. I had a list i kept folded in my bill fold of things I had questions about. When I would think of something to check, I'd take out my list and add it. Even if I only had a few items, it would lead me to hours of reading because just browsing introduced me to other questions, much like the internet does today. Barnes & Noble was a special treat because the nearest one was 100 miles away. I had Waldens in our closet mall, but they were 1/3 the size of B&N and still 50 miles away. I spent a lot of time in libraries, but at that time, everything was pretty dated. The top sellers in fiction might be in there, but non-fiction like history, science, and engineering were not. A lot of these subjects only had books from the 60's and 70's in small local libraries. Anyway... I enjoyed my couple of hours browsing B&N and hope to make it part...
