I was feeling rebellious against my own rules that I have about eating healthy Mon-Thurs, and not eating out. I had a hankering for pizza and had heard some buzz about this place that just opened, Via 313. So, off we went to eat pizza.
Let me preface this by saying I love pizza, but mainly NY style. I have never been a huge fan of Detroit style, although I will eat it.
As we entered, we were greeted by the friendly staff at the door and were seated in the bar area. I believe Simon was our waiter. I was blown away at how personable this kid is. Like, he literally made the trip worth it as we exchanged jokes with him during our visit.
We ordered some cheese bread off the happy hour menu, and as tempting as a drink from the bar was, I could not break that rule of not drinking Mon-Thurs. The cheese bread was delicious! I could have eaten that and been satisfied, but I figure I may as well continue on my rebellious streak and order a pepperoni pizza with mushrooms.
It was amazing when it came out and it reminded me of the only Detroit-style pizza in Houston that I liked, Barry's on Richmond (although it closed after Covid). So I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious this pizza was!
We were given a complimentary dessert, although I am not sure why. Maybe it was my sparkling personality, maybe it was they were putting peer pressure on me to be more rebellious against my own healthy eating rules, or maybe it was because it was opening week and they simply wanted to provide stellar food and service. If it was the latter, congrats, mission...
Read moreWent for a late lunch with my husband, brother, and SIL. Our server, Travis, was awesome. He was very friendly and helped my brother with getting his order correctly placed. The vibes are nice- urban chic- and the music had a few bangers playing, too. Pros: $3 Lone Star beer on draft as their normal price??! Fantastic! The Detroit- style pizza is phenomenal!! No matter which one you get, you're gonna like it! We got pepperoni, 4 cheese with spinach and mushroom, a custom with bacon, pepperoni, and mushrooms, and a split of the Ambassador and the funkadelic chicken. We all loved what we got!! The edge of the pizza was cooked perfectly, and it is presented quite nicely for a pizza place. We all ordered small pizzas and were pleasantly surprised with how large they are. We look forward to going again to try the bar-style thin crust pizzas and to see how large their large must be. Cons: You can skip the apps. I do not recommend the brussle sprouts- they are mushy and poorly seasoned. The cheesybread is also mid. There are other items on the menu that might be worth trying, but don't waste your money or calories on these. Overall, the pizza, beer, and vibes are great. I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu, especially the canolli. If you've never had Detroit- style pizza, my man Travis will help you out. Try...
Read moreI ordered a $60 pizza from their website to be delivered. When it was 35 minutes late, I called the store to check on the status of my delivery. They told me that the pizza is sitting there in the window for over 40 minutes. I then asked when they were going to deliver it. They said that they don’t know when and that they are waiting on a driver. They then said that I could come pick it up. Mind you, this pizza walls now be an hour old. They blamed the error on Door Dash. I let them know that I didn’t order through Door Dash. I ordered through their website. That is their process and their relationship to manage. They gave me zero updates or options other than to come get my hour old pizza. They did however say that I could get a refund on my $60 pizza that would appear in my back account within 3 days. So absolutely appalling that they can’t run their business. The pizza is great but the service is awful!!! Don’t think about delivery form them because all they will do is blame someone else. I hate that I love their pizza, but the service is so substandard it is ridiculous. Just go elsewhere. Anywhere and get 5 pizzas for the price of...
