It looks like I visited the day after the store opened, so it was pretty busy and the food products had been hit pretty hard. But the overall variety and selection of goods seemed impressive. Everything was priced in Yen so I believe nearly all of the products are made to be sold in Japanese stores, which was a neat surprise. Way too often, US locations of foreign companies feel very heavily localized and that kills a lot of the charm. The simple, efficient, and practical design of most items is a nice contrast to how a lot of American products end up more expensive as things tend to be overbuilt and focus more on form over function. As an example, I really liked an SD card container that fit ~24 various cards into the size of a small power bank and was less than $3. It's light and thin plastic, but made in such a way that it folds securely and retains the cards well.
The one thing I could see as a mild issue is the narrow aisles, but given the size of the store it's required to fit in so many different products. So until the initial crowds calm down, you'll want to allow for some extra time to get around the store. But it does help maintain the feel of an urban Japanese retailer so I saw that as part...
Read moreThe store is basically a Japanese Dollar store/Five Below. It's clean, stocked, and well put together, but it overall wasn't worth the drive. We drove about 30 minutes to get here. Which is ok because we wanted to visit a Daiso, since we missed it in Texas. I would give it a 5 star, but this Daiso is wildly misplaced. There is a higher asian market in Ballwin (along Manchester), Olivette (along Olive), and U-City (along Olive). It would've made more sense to place it over there.
For St. Louis area folks considering the drive, I'd recommend Pan Asia, the Olive Asian Supermarket, or any of the other Asian ran/inspired locations.
But otherwise, if you want to visit for the sake of saying you went,...
Read moreI’ve been here twice now and love this store! They have so many adorable and aesthetic things, I love Miffy and was surprised to find so many cute Miffy things there along with some red panda socks that I wear all the time now. They also have so many fun snacks and drinks. I was also so shocked at how affordable and cheap everything was, I knew it was supposed to be like a dollar store but I still wasn’t expecting a basket full of stuff to only come out to $20, they also have everything you could possibly need when it comes to household items. Definitely worth checking out and I plan on coming back frequently to stock up on some of the drinks and snacks they offer there that you can’t find...
