Beautiful fire house. I was originally going there to take my girlfriend and show her the house they shoot Chicago Fire. She had no idea where we were going (at the same time I didn't either). When we pulled onto the street there were a bunch of fire trucks and ambulance buses. First thing that came to my mind was that they were shooting. She didn't know where we were until I pulled directly in front of the drive (where they had the Molly's 2 food truck sitting), and I went "We're here!". She was so happy, she was almost in tears. I have never been forced to park so fast in my life. We parked on the other side of the garden that is to the right of the house along the apartment/houses.
All we really did was walk around. I'm the type of person to bother anyone. I knew they weren't shoot and it was the "legit" guys there at the house doing their job. It was somewhat cold so the doors were shut.. yes I wanted to walk in, see them, thank them for everything they do, and call it a day. There was one fire fighter outside talking with a couple people who had stopped by, but I didn't want to barge in and then have a bunch of people bothering him.
But what do ya know? We were standing under the main windows out front and we heard... THE BELL.
Her and I both.. "NO WAY". But it was cool to see them in action and take off.
We stayed a bit longer to take pictures outside, check everything out, and we left.
It was truly beautiful neighborhood.
It's funny how you recognize everything that is shown in the show, Chicago Fire.
Next time I am visiting my family in Chicago, hopefully it's a bit warmer and we can stop by.
I respect all fire fighters and thank all that you do for Chicago, and all around the country.
Thanks,
Chris...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a huge fan of the show the fire house was a must see while in Chicago! When we first arrived the crew were out on a call and just as we were about to leave they arrived back and the chief came straight out to offer us and a few other visitors a complete tour which was amazing! Behind the scenes insights and stories from all the team made the tour very insightful and enjoyable. We were extremely lucky to have been offered the tour as they were only back off a call and when our tour just finished up they had to head out again! Really nice and friendly bunch of guys especially Lara who gave us the whole tour! What an amazing experience to see all the inner workings of an operational fire house and a lot of Chicago Fire Department history and Chicago Fire TV show memorabilia. Highly recommend dropping by while in Chicago to any fan! But do remember itās down to pot luck on the day of your visit if you get a tour, do remember how busy these guys are and try not to be disappointed if you donāt get a tour as even seeing the outside of the fire house is a great experience! They have a wide range of really nice souvenirs to purchase at the end of your tour also but remember to bring cash as they donāt take card! Thanks again to Lara and all the team for an experience Iāll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe family and I took a trip to Chicago. We are a huge fan of the show and also very appreciative to the men and women that serve. We are aware of the history of that house , and while yes the show drove us to go there, we were there none the less . We spoke to two separate people on the outside asking if we could go inside. We also read reviews and articles on line saying we could go. As soon as we got in there, this man (short guy) started yelling at us to leave. I tried talking and ask questions, but he proceeded to interrupt us and told us to leave. When I told him that the others said we could go in , he said well this is my house and I make the rules. He claimed that covid was the reason that we couldnāt go in, but yet I see pictures with people with masks on months ago. I am saddened for myself but still happy that others had a great experience. I will continue to support, but this guy had a bad attitude. I understand it must get annoying to constantly have people show up, but they should be happy for the exposure that it...
