PART 1 of 2 I’ve never left any reviews before but I felt I needed to share my experience for this one. This was my second time going to this salon. I had my hair extension done in March and this time was the removal of the old one and replace them with the new ones. My daughter came with me to get the full head highlights done. We arrived at 11:30. We were told to sit on the chair and discussed what we wanted. The owner, Emir was not quite interested in listening to what we wanted to have done and he seemed rather irritated and told us what we wanted could not be achieved since we both had dark brown hair. Mind you, I always go to the best hair stylist in town (LA, Milan and London) so I know what’s possible. Knowing the type of hair salon I was in, I understood he was not capable or familiar with the technique so I gave in. As we were already in the salon sitting on the chair, the last thing I wanted was to upset Emir. I have to admit we contemplated leaving when we were left on our seat for a good one hour when he kept on attending other customers. It’s a very empty salon. There were perhaps 2 to 3 clients in the there. Never more. He has his assistant but Emir seemed to be the only one who can actually do the job. So basically, he keeps everyone waiting while he’s doing someone’s hair. What is the point of making an appointment when we were all kept hostage in the salon? After being left for another hour on the seat, this time we seriously thought about leaving the premises but I was afraid he might charge us for the cancellation fee so we stayed. He came back briefly and washed my hair. He did make an effort to be charming and all… but always very awkward and out of character. (Also, they talk a lot… I mean A LOT every time he washed my hair, I could smell his breath and all… and of course he was not wearing a mask which was ok but have some basic etiquette not to talk above your client’s face! It was quite revolting.) He never asked me if the water temperature was ok. It was always cold! As soon as he spent 30 min of his time, we were left for another hour just waiting. He also went out quite a bit to smoke. After an 6 agonizing hours in captivity (my daughter actually started to feel the panic attack), Emir said, “I have to leave but don’t worry, my assistant will take care of you.” I didn’t care who did my hair as long as it was done. All I wanted to do was to leave this place. Meanwhile I kept on wondering why I came back for the second time…lol! *Continues...
Read moreI feel compelled to write this review based on how horrible of an experience I had with this business. (I want to also state that no, I will not accept the money your are offering to people who write bad reviews about your salon to help you find out who wrote false comments because this is my honest review of this business) Long story short, I made an appointment with this salon based on all of the great reviews and pictures. I let the stylist know EXACTLY what I wanted. I left wanting to cry. I had to endure questions from family, friends and co-workers for two weeks about what happened to my hair and why on earth I would have let someone make my hair look the way it did. I have never seen anyone apply bleach to hair the way this salon did. When I could finally have my hair fixed (I had to wait a few weeks because it was so damaged) I had to cut off all of my long hair because it was that damaged. So not only did I not get the color or style that I had asked for but I had to cut off my hair to above shoulder length and start from scratch at another salon. I will say that the people who work here are very friendly but at times I was uncomfortable at how rudely the owner would speak to his employees. I also felt that the owner is very cocky. I am not the only one who had a bad experience. I have a friend who also went in for a color and cut. Her highlights were so bad she could not put her hair up into a ponytail and had random blunt cuts throughout her hair that didn't make any sense. Based on his pictures and reviews, it seems this salon is capable of doing good work. Even the picture that was taken of my hair in the salon looked beautiful. I soon realized he styled my hair to hide the mistakes he had made. I will never recommend this salon to anyone and this is just my honest review.
Also, I had to throw away the sweater and pants I was wearing during my appointment because they had managed to splatter bleach on me.
I guess my friend and I were just unlucky. Once again, this is my...

I went today to TopStar Salon in West Palm Beach for a Brazilian Blowout. I met the man who was doing my hair and he was very nice at first. He started with washing my hair, then led me to my chair. He put on the treatment and I waited for about a 1/2 hour while he worked on someone else. No big deal, I really wasn't in a hurry. He then put me under the dryer for another 1/2 hour while he worked on yet another customer and answered all the phone calls since there was no receptionist. At this point I was a little annoyed, but let it go.
He finally finished straightening my hair and led me to checkout. I pulled out my gift certificate I had for $50. This is where it became confrontational. He told me he couldn't take the $50! Apparently, the company was sold 3 months ago and the man that was doing my hair was the new owner and wouldn't accept gift certificates from the previous owner! You would think they would call or email their customers letting them know that, but no. I had no idea. If I would have known, I would have used the certificate months ago.
I proceeded to tell the new owner that the gift certificate has the same name, same address and same phone number. No where does it have an expiration date or anything. I decided it was in my best interest to call the police to file a report. Unfortunately, they couldn't do anything and I had to pay the full $250, but I will make sure this does not happen to anyone else! I have already reported them to the BBB and will be leaving this review on multiple sites.
To me, when you take over and buy a business, you incur everything having to do with that business. Whether that is gift certificates purchased previously or someone upset with their hair. This was such an unfortunate circumstance and I am very upset the owner did nothing to help. He was all attitude when it came to money! I will NEVER be back here and hope no one goes to this...
