There aren’t many grocery stores where you can pick up veggies from the garden of a local resident or get cookies baked by nuns - but at Double L, these things are the norm! Located on the Post Road, Lloyd and his wife Gianna are passionate about providing their customers with the highest quality products, whether it be sourced locally or from around the world. The entire store is truly a treasure-trove of unique finds and community spirit! Lloyd helped us make up a box of goodies to bring home and told us about Harry’s Berries, and we’re obsessed! We also saw red bananas for the first time, which are softer and sweeter than regular bananas. They even had pink pineapples! I was genuinely moved by the owners’ passion and impressed by the quality of the produce. My family sat around the table enjoying a fruit platter made from Double L’s offerings, and it felt special. There were flavors in a plum we’d never experienced before. The peaches were juicy and vibrant.

No price tags or price labels, so you literally have no idea how much things cost until you check out and experience price shock when they give you the total price (no register display either so you can’t see individual prices as they ring you up). Why?!! I love supporting independent grocers, and they have a lovely selection of specialty groceries, which I would be happy to return and support despite the price premium that you definitely pay here, but it’s just too weird and unsettling to have no clue what things cost.
