Atilis Gym, Wildwood — Attraction in Wildwood

My family has had a house in Wildwood Crest since 2005, yet this was my first summer as a member of Atilis Gym. Although I prefer HIIT style workouts, Atilis Gym was a great option for me to stay in shape. In addition to traditional strength training machines, there was enough space (both inside and outside) to do HIIT workouts. I was impressed with the fact the gym had an assault bike, row machine and a Bosu ball. The owner and staff were all great – there were several times I forgot my membership pass and they didn’t give me any trouble. I also really appreciated their attitude towards training and fitness – it was clear this was their main focus (they weren’t only focused on running a business/making money). As I result, I was happy to further support them by purchasing a few t-shirts. Their selection of energy drinks, pre-workout and recovery drinks was also great/helpful.

The only comment I have is I wish the gym was better cleaned/cleaned more often. I appreciated the tough, gritty, bodybuilder-like (note the pictures of Arnold Schwarzenegger on all of the walls) feel of the gym (it was actually pretty motivating), but there’s no reason it can’t be kept clean and polished. Through my HIIT workouts, I was on the ground quite a bit and never felt comfortable as I could see the dirt, hair and dust building up. The yoga mats always felt used & dirty/grimy, the tilt drum blower fan had a ton of dirt and dust built up on it and the cupholders on the treadmills always had dirt or trash in them. In addition, several of the barbells and weight plates left dirt/rust stains on my workout gear, which I will be replacing. I also never felt comfortable using the men’s bathroom as it felt very old and there were never any paper towels to dry your hands (note there was an automatic hand dryer, but it barely worked/put out any air).

My comments aside, I enjoyed working out this summer at Atilis gym – I was able to get in good workouts and liked the atmosphere. Keeping the above in mind, I would recommend Atilis Gym to others and I will be back...

Atilis in Wildwood is a traditional, bodybuilders gym. It has a classic vibe to it with plenty of modern equipment along with the standard free weights.

I found the gym to be hospitable and easy going. The owner was very welcoming and friendly; most importantly passionate about owning a gym. Not just collecting membership checks. You can tell that this place is his pride and joy, and that he wants you to enjoy it as much as he does.

All the equipment is in good order and you’ll find everything you need for most workouts. As a bonus, there’s also a heavy bag station outside for boxers and mma athletes.

The pricing is fair and what is great is that day passes are available for those coming down for vacation or the weekend.

It’s my gym away from home and I highly recommend to those that are serious weightlifters.

If you need something posh and high end with techno music blasting and bright lights glaring in your face like you’re at a jewelry store, this is not your gym. The equipment has bits of wear and tear but everything is maintained. Go to planet fitness if you need everything to be pristine. For everyone else, give Atilis a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

Best gym experience I've ever had. I went this morning at 5:30 and was greeted by the owner. It sounds crazy but within 1 min, I felt more welcome at Atilis than the gym I go to regularly back home!! The owner was talking with many people, legit friends which was so cool to see, the atmosphere was awesome and motivating. The equipment was awesome- I never got a pump anywhere like I had today!! I'm just getting back into the swing of working out after a long break, reading some Mike Mentzer stuff lately and the whole vibe of the place made me super motivated. Leave your headphones because you are going to hear some awesome 80's and 90's rock (best era) to get you pumped up! When I left I just had to purchase a shirt, and the owner even complimented my choice and made sure it fit. How awesome is that? You can tell this is his passion because he reads and responds to every review which is incredible. I'm bummed that I'm back home hours away from Wildwood, I really wish Atilis was my local gym because I'd be there multiple times a week. I know when I'm back on vacation next year, I'm going every day. This is how a...
