My first time ever staying in a Bed and Breakfast and my experience was wonderful. I was a tad nervous because I didn't know how these types of hotels worked. I would definitely stay here again!
When we arrived, we had to call for them to greet us in the drive way. Which was also our parking. I wore my mask at this time because I wasn't sure on policy and they put theirs on because I had mine on. (I guess NJ Iifted the mask mandate, but they respected me wearing mine. Which I thought was fantastic). We were then given a tour of the house and given the rules. They never bothered us, which I really appreciated. If we did need anything, all we had to do was text and/or call and they responded quickly.
This place was very beautiful and welcoming. I just loved looking around and exploring. They have a super cute snack table with crackers, candy, and prepackaged granola bars/baked goods. They also had coffee and tea available in the dining room for most of the day. A communal mini fridge and microwave were provided for guests that were clean and well maintained. There are plenty of places to park as well if needed. And despite other people staying in separate rooms in this home, I still felt like I had my own space. Never once did I think it was too loud with other guests. There was also bikes, games, books and movies provided for guests to use and unfortunately the jacuzzi was still closed due to covid.
We stayed in the Walt Whitman room. Located on the second floor. It was very small, but cozy. We had to make use of the dresser and closet for our clothes and things because we had to slide our luggage under the bed. Which wasn't a huge deal. There is a sink in the room which was strangely useful. The bed was very clean and comfortable. It had coverings on the mattress to keep it free of bugs and allergens. (I'm always checking for bed bugs. Had a bad experience once.) It was a double bed, but my partner and I had no issues. There is also some air conditioning and a ceiling fan and never got too warm. Off the room was this fantastic deck that we had our breakfast every morning and enjoyed our evenings on, settling down before bed.
The bathroom is across the hall and it is a private bathroom. You could lock it and they provided a key. The bathroom was quite large with a beautiful claw foot tub. The shower was very powerful with the pressure and it was hard to not get the floor wet. I felt bad because of the gorgeous hard wood floors.
Breakfast was absolutely INCREDIBLE everyday. I was always looking forward to what they whipped up for the morning. Now with covid, it was still all takeout. Which I didn't mind because I'm not a social butterfly and enjoyed the privacy. They should keep this option. But the dishes ranged from freshly made breakfast sandwiches and burritos to stuffed French toast. It was all delicious! Orange juice, fruit cups, and some sort of soft, warm, and luscious pastry was also included.
Again, I would 100% stay here again. Natalie and Todd were excellent hosts and super friendly. Outstanding breakfast and the location and price...
Read moreI stayed at the Sea Gypsy in the Elbert Hubbard room, for 3 nights and it was wonderful. My wife was extremely happy to get away and the breakfast was awesome. Worth every penny!! We went last month. My wife & I always wondered how wildwood was like in the winter, so we went walking on the boardwalk. Loved the Jacuzzi (out of this world) Very relaxing. Henry & D were excellent hosts...whatever we needed day or night - they would accommodate. Felt kind of bad bothering them late at night but they would hook us up! So, we drove up from Drexel Hill PA which is about a 2 hr drive. The only 1 thing that I think that they need is a small handrail in the Jacuzzi because it was hard for me to get in because it was made for 2 so I could not balance myself to well getting in or out, but I am 68yrs old..once I was in I loved it but my wife has a bad back so she could not get in. A younger person would not have a problem but an older person like me, you look for those small handrails to grip on so you don't flop in like I did & have your wife laughing at you LOL. Oh - also I went to the Acme around there & brought items to cook & dinner for the first night & I forgot my wallet, so I told the cashier to please hold my items until I get back & she said sure, no problem. So I drove back to the Sea Gypsy & got lost, after about 15 mins broke down & used my GPS..got to the place grabbed my wallet (my wife shaking her head) & headed back to Acme...got lost again so I broke down again & used my GPS 20 mins later got to Acme & the casher came up to me (I thought she put my items in the cart back) but she said don't worry, someone paid for your items & his name was John! What! What Planet am I on - Wow! If you are reading this John - Thank You!! I will take care of the next person & return the favor or should I say carry-on the favor. OverAll -...
Read moreThis place exceeded our expectations by far!! My husband, 2 daughters ages 3 & 16, & my 16 year olds 3 additional friends 2 of which were unplanned, & myself all stayed in the Ezra Pound suite. And some how we all managed to stay & sleep rather comfortably! The room is seperated by a sliding door, the kitchen is small but there's a stove, dishes, silverware, small dorm style fridge, 2 full bathrooms with stand up showers one on each side... spa style shower heads which were amazing after a day at the beach... the room style is a mesh of modern & antique... dresser turned into a sink updated bathrooms beautiful bedding with a mesh of textures & designs... they really did a beautiful job in remodeling!! They had a propane grill available so we grilled right out front of our door all weekend. We contacted the office prior to arriving & they actually texted us back with a picture of the grill in front of our room... that was awesome!! They were so friendly & sweet!! Each side of the room has it's own seperate entrance so the teenagers were able to come in wothout waking the baby. All around we had an amazing stay!! The price was so affordable, & it's much closer to the boardwalk than it looks on the map!! We will most definitely be staying there again!! The pictures online do not do it justice!! I almost forgot... the bed was amazing to sleep in seriously comfortable!! There's a park 2 houses down from the Sea Gypsy office the kids had a blast playing there... not sure of we were allowed to be in there... the gate was unlocked & it let the kids have fun... for free, plus we respected the property so I doubt anyone would mind!! Wish I had taken...
