We decided to visit this Winery after a little bit of shopping in Wilmington after reading the Google reviews. We were a little surprised to see that the winery was located in a shopping strip mall and almost didn't go in, but are we glad we did! Ken, the owner, was our tasting guide, and was so fun to have a conversation with and hear about the winery, his family history, wine making and just general information about Wilmington. Like, who knew the film making industry is huge there, and that this little Winery has a part in it! Whether you like more traditional wines or the fun fruity types this Winery has you covered. Ken is a true artist when it comes to making unique combinations... for instance, the wine with basil is excellent and even smells like basil when you bring it to your nose, yet the taste of it is subtle and great paired with Italian red sauce dishes a charcuterie board, or we thought even bruschetta would be an excellent pairing for this wine. Then on the sweet side of the menu there were all kinds of fruit wines. Our favorites, but we didn't test them all, were the pear, the peach, the strawberry, the Raspberry zen, the sangria and the lemon mint...oh my gosh over the top delicious. The coffee and pumpkin spice ports...don't get me started! Great wine and entertainment in...
Read moreI stopped in to the winery with a friend of mine and the store was quiet and there were only a couple of customers. The man working didn’t really acknowledge us until we asked about trying some wine and having a group in. We ended up sitting at their bar which was no big deal. My friend asked the gentleman working which wines were local, he looked incredibly annoyed and said they all were. Now my friend is from Minnesota and I’m from South Carolina, we had no idea. When we asked which wines he’d recommend he was completely disinterested and didn’t really answer. I asked how the Sangiovese was and he said it was probably their best. Fine, I ordered that. My friend tried a couple of wines and then got the Lambrusco. Now, with every Lambrusco I’ve ever had they tend to have little bubbles and opens like champagne, he didn’t do that with this one so we knew it had been open for a while. I started drinking my Sangiovese and it was immediately off, there was almost a corked taste to it. My friend’s Lambrusco was horrible!! Neither of us finished our wine and we were supposed to have 6 people at this winery with us. We quickly took our business elsewhere since the gentleman working was less than friendly and the wine was abysmal. I gave 2 stars because at least the pricing fit...
Read moreHow to repel visitors. Went here on a friday when nobody was there. Walked in the door and asked to schedule a tasting for Groupon. The response was abyssmal "Did you read the fine print? We dont to Groupon tastings on Fridays." Mind you, the response was not, "hello, how are you? Or Im sorry, we dont take Groupon, but we can either try to accommodate or get you set up for the weekend. They just stared at us and waited for us to suggest another appointment. Ironically they actually do tastings on fridays, but not for the lowly Groupon people. Mind you, they signed up for Groupon, so clearly they needed the business in the first place. First impressions are everything. When you are met with venom the second you walk in, youd rather not see whats coming later. Yes, you are the only winery in town, and thats why youve gotten away with this sort of behavior. Avoid these owners, and go to a local brewery instead. Or go to a...
