Rude - Burnt coffee, and an employee that not only makes the customers feel uneasy, but treats the fellow employees that way too! Getting out and about is something I like to do, and grabbing a cup of coffee once a week is always a treat. I frequent the usual places. Starbucks, Java Dog, Casablanca's and Port City Java. No, I'm not a coffee connoisseur, but I do appreciate a good cup of coffee. This specific Port City Java location off of Eastwood Road was the winner of providing me one of the worst experiences ever! From the moment I walked in the door, I could feel the tension in the air. The line in the drive through was around the bend in the road, and is why I decided to go indoors. As only a few people inside, sitting at tables working on their laptops, I thought I would be able to get in quickly and efficiently. Boy was I wrong! The young lady at the front register was not comprehendible at all. Their is this rather large plastic shield that makes her appear like a creature in a zoo as opposed to a friendly host. Unfortunately for her, and I, we could not communicate well because of her mask and the shield. But I did get my order across to her and she did try her best. Now for the really fun part of this experience: The young fellow to the ladies right, was the culprit of evil and tension! Maybe he was upset he had to work, maybe he had a bad night out, or maybe he just did not like me or his coworkers, but for whatever reason, this guy was a jerk! He was rude to the employees around him, and made smart remarks that were rude and unprofessional! Needless to say, my eyebrows went up numerous times when words came out of this skinny sack of flesh's mouth! As I scooted to my table and watched the debacle unfold around this young man (I use that term lightly), I was astonished at how the other crew members reacted to this fellow. I was completely understanding of why the tension was in the air and as to why what I expected to be pleasant experience was one that was turned into sour grapes! Now, lets discuss the coffee, because that is what I actually came in for! I have had Port City before, and I tend to get the same thing. I like strong coffee and the true taste of coffee with no sugary additives, cream, or things of that nature. I ordered two drinks, one for me and one for my bride. My drink tasted like it was burnt, such as coffee that had been sitting in a warming pot for way too long. My bride stated her coffee was "so so". Well below average, and well below what $10 should get you for two cups of coffee. Maybe my taste buds were reacting in a negative light to the unpleasantries going on around what was behind the counter, or maybe my tastebuds just don't know what real coffee should taste light. I'll let you be the judge of that if you choose to visit this specific location. It is never a fun thing to leave a business a poor rating, and sometimes it's justified. Maybe Port City Java will do something positive with this information. Maybe the human cloud of doom will be talked to and his attitude will change. Hopefully their will be a customer out there that will see that result, and IT WILL NOT BE ME, NOR MY BRIDE! Thank You Very Much!

Odd drive through experience. I order a croissant only and get to the window. Price was $5 plus tax but somehow my total included .50 cents more than on the sign. Okay, fine. But it got weird when the barista holds my change in the air and asks me if I wanted my change? Strange way to ask for a tip. The sandwich was hot and tasty but not appealing to the eye. Definitely a strange interaction. I should not be asked to tip while dangling my change. I would have tipped the $2 bills I had in my other hand if that didn’t happen. However, due to this odd interaction, I didn’t and will not be back. They didn’t even offer or give me napkins! All about that tip and the overcharge makes me wonder if the price o n the sign was in fact correct and I was overcharged for “tips”? Hmm.

I come here often on my work breaks. Service is consistently high quality and friendly. Staff is very helpful and efficient. The associate who helped me today, (blonde, pigtails, glasses I think?) I think has only met me once before. Still she remembered my name, and my kind of complicated order. I quickly received my drink and food, and it was excellent as always. I have been in the service industry myself about 7 years. This kind of sincerity and knowledge can be hard to come by. I truly appreciate how welcome I feel here.

I have enjoyed visiting Port City Jaffa branches mostly downtown in Wilmington for nealry 20 years but had a very bad experience in this location on Sunday, 6 November 2016.

I asked for a flat white; but neither of the staff behind the counter had any idea what that was; remarkable for a specialised coffee shop. I explained that it was about half way between a cappuccino and an Americano; and was offered a "Black and Tan Mocha".

I remarked that some people from Ireland might find that name offensive and attempted to explain that the Black and Tans were the Temporary Constables, many of them British Army Veterans raised by the British Secretary of War, Winston Churchill to assist the Royal Irish Constabulary in the Irish War of Independence; suffice to say their role and deployment were extremely controversial.

Not only were the staff not interested in this advice; but they were rude and smirky.

I asked to speak to the Manager; but she didn't answer their phone call.

I have made a formal complaint to their...

Ordered 3 drinks and the girl at the register was awesome. I ordered 1 hot latte, 1 iced latte, and a iced mocha. The iced latte came out immediately. Then we waited about 10 mins for the mocha and then another 10 or maybe even 15 for my hot latte. There wasn't many people in the shop when I walked in..most were just leaving. I was the only person in line yet watched multiple people who came in way after me recieve way more complicated drinks before me. Still not a huge problem but when I finally received my drink it tasted like creamer and water. No coffee taste at all and I had ordered 2 extra shots of espresso. It was the most disgusting coffee I had ever paid for. I tossed it and left cause I couldn't get anyone's attention because they were to busy chatting each other up and texting on...
