I am a black club member and regularly use three locations due to work travel: Flourtown, South Philadelphia and Riverfront (Wilmington) Flourtown and South Philadelphia are wonderful...as wonderful as they are, Wilmington is outrageously bad. Renovations have been going on for months and I am not exaggerating. Place smells of mold, dusty, bathrooms (at least the womens) are left with toilets in the middle of the floor...there is one operational stall and is not handicap accessible at all. Tanning facility "not available"...I was told March 1st it would be back in operational order with a pause when asked about the tanning aspect...of course I take this with a grain of salt as I was told November 1 back in the fall of 2106. I have contacted the corporate headquarters for Planet Fitness and from the lack of action and response I assume that they do not have a concern for across the board brand imaging because if they did, this situation would not be going on month after month. Also contacted was the Riverfront Development Corporation as they have a stake in what is at the overall site. I do want to say the young staff members are quite pleasant and I feel for them because they are on the receiving end of paying customers frustrations...and I emphasis paying. If I had the resources I would be opening an alternative that would provide a reliable, cost friendly clean and functioning site. Planet Fitness Corporate you should be more on...
Read moreCool gym and conveniently located in the city but both the staff and gym patrons can be pretty rude. Their patrons’ attitudes aren’t the gym’s fault necessarily but the people there are really not too friendly. Late at night (10 PM and beyond), the gym is a mess and people rarely respect the equipment enough to rerack things or put things where they should go instead of the floor. I was personally heckled by one staff member in particular for months before I finally had to have words and come to a resolution. He would call me a name each time I walked passed him and made dumb comments. All fun and games maybe to him but he doesn’t know me well enough to assume that is OK as I am a customer, not a friend...So it sort of makes Planet Fitness’ judgement free slogan a joke when their own staff members are perpetuating arrogant judgements of people based on their looks. Anyway, I still go and attempt to go when it’s least crowded but it’s hard to really gauge the perfect time to go unless you wait until midnght. The place isn’t perfect, but if you can get passed the occasional rudeness, the crowds, and the messes people leave,...
Read moreSwitching between weightlifting machines at Planet Fitness felt absolutely effortless. The layout is intuitive, the spacing is generous, and the machines are positioned in a way that makes progression from one exercise to the next almost automatic. I never felt like I had to hunt for the next station or weave awkwardly through crowds—everything just flowed.
What really stood out was how smooth the transition felt in terms of both accessibility and atmosphere. I was able to keep my workout momentum going without interruption, which is rare at many gyms. The thoughtful arrangement of equipment, combined with the well-maintained machines, created a sense of rhythm that made my workout more efficient and enjoyable.
This attention to detail in design and functionality is a small thing that makes a massive difference, and it’s exactly why I give Planet Fitness a perfect score. It’s not just about the machines—it’s about creating an environment where working out feels simple, seamless, and...
