Good, immersive fun here. Unnecessarily tough on first-timers though. (Could be avoided!) We were asked if we'd ever been in before - When we said no, we were directed to tv screens in the lobby, where a very generic, commercial-like video was playing on loop. What the video did NOT explain is how to actually play, and what to expect. We wasted over 30 minutes of our 2 hour game play time just learning how the program was intended to be used. I'll save someone else the same headaches and time waste we endured. Please bear with the explanations, but they are well worth reading. 1: The quests can be run concurrently. (At the same time). Think of the quests as individual apps/games on your tablet, that can all be accessed as you choose. Or for the open-world style video-gamers out there: think of it as a real-life version of Skyrim or Fallout, just a bit more child-oriented mythical. (Elves, trolls, robotic beings, unicorns, sea creatures and the like). Do not assume you will stay in one dedicated area to complete the current quest you are doing! (It's not linear style play.) 2: While the staff leads you to believe you are selecting one wing of four, you will actually need to visit ALL AREAS (wings) of the entire complex at various times to complete the quests. (We interpreted an escape-room type of linear adventure from the info we had before actual play.) 3: If something makes zero sense at all, find another area or quest - Chances are something you see elsewhere will make sense of it later, and you can always access all activated quests. (Again, not linear) 4: You WILL NEED the light they supply. For almost EVERY quest line. It should be permanently in your hand while adventuring. Very fun to have one person hold the tablet while the other uses the light. Once we finally figured out how to play, it was a fun, challenging time. We sure could have used those 30+ minutes for more quest solving! Great fun for groups, and would be a good out-of-the-box choice for a date as well! Watch your head and be aware of some tight spaces. Would have easily been 5 stars had we gotten a better gameplay explanation and not wasted...
Read moreAlways have loved wizards quest, so I was very sad to learn of the new location as the first one is so iconic. While I'll always prefer the original, this one is a ton of fun too. The big open area of the first one is gone, replaced with more linear connected areas which has its ups and downs (all missing the classic wizards đ). The water and earth regions are great, but air and fire leave some to be desired in decore in some places. If rumors of an adult wizards quest being in the old ripleys once that moves into the old wizards quest are true, I will be ecstatic.
New location Pros: love the hidden areas, new quest lines are great, lots of fun puzzle solving and crawling areas, i like the well priced snack bar for breaks, lots of great set pieces.
New location cons: no big open area connecting everything anymore which makes it feel less magical, no more end goal to use currency on -- just quests, some areas less detailed the previous location, some immersion breaking areas such as windows showing cars and some bare walls, uv flashlight is REQUIRED to finish so many quests, should be free to use but a fee if you loose/keep.
All in all, very fun, but will forever miss the old area. Main thing thats needed is different questlines with an end goal similar to freeing all the wizards (new quests are coming soon it says so I assume that they'll do that). Comparing new wizards quest to its predecessor is a 4/5, but not comparing it, it's still a 5/5 because I had fun. There also should be some kind of reward paper at the end of the game providing your stats, so when you come back you can try to beat your score! Maybe just percentage of quests or something like that.
Please make the adult focused wizards quest in the old building with at least some of the old area! The wide open earth realm, with the sky realm up above, and the water and fire below was perfect! That magic is lost in...
Read moreWe visited the old location several times and always had a great time and was thoroughly engaged. Visited their new location and we are just blown away with the next level they have taken this amazing family attraction to! The quests are so fun and great for the whole family. I like that there are only a few things that might scare a young child and they can be avoided with little to no impact on the game. It's not creepy or full of spells and magic that you have to perform to complete a quest. It's a fantasy world of games and really cool visual effects and displays and interactive play. They give you 120 minutes to complete as many quests as you can. Bonus is you can start multiple quests at the same time so that if you are on a quest and behind someone who has small children or for some reason needs to take a little longer you can just jump to another quest and keep playing the game and go back to finish the previous one later. The mirror room is a bit funky but if you hold your hand out in front of you you'll be fine. Some doors require you to turn a knob or latch so if you see what looks like a door but it won't open it probably does from the other side. There might be an issue for taller or larger people in some places in the realms as a few can be a bit narrow and there are times you need to crawl through a short tunnel to find a clue. There is an elevator but some game places are not wheelchair accessible. So bring friends with that can navigate those areas for you! Don't let it stop you from having a great time! They also have a snack bar located in one of the realms and they can pause your game time while you enjoy some refreshments. They have so much more planned for this place and I am very very excited to keep...
