We spent the afternoon wandering the strip and everywhere we went people told us to eat at The HIgh Rock Cafe. We decided, why not? We had to wait our turn so we left our number and were paged when our table was ready. We are soooooo glad we chose this restaurant. It is owned by the Chef and it showed in the dishes we chose to share. The staff told us they all love what they do! That also showed in the smiles and cozy atmosphere created in this amazing Cafe.
Store owners along the street told us to try the Gilly Goat so we did. It's a wonderful warm goat cheese appetizer with toasted bread and olive oil. It was DELISH and I almost always HATE goat cheese. This dish was so amazing I thought my eyes would get totally lost in the back of my brain where they rolled from the deliciousness!
We also tried the warm pasta dish and the beet & spinach salad at the recommendation of nearby store owners. OMG!!!! It was so delicious that we forgot to take pictures until we were almost done eating it so forgive the way it looks in the picture. Try it for yourself. It's AHmazing!!!!
We were among the last guests to be seated and when the restaurant began to noticeably slow we worried we were holding our server hostage. She was so kind when she informed us to not rush. "You guys are fine. Just enjoy your meal." We felt welcome and well cared for. It was the kind of customer service you almost NEVER see anymore and it really made our evening special. We had already had a fabulous day at Crowley Lavender Farms and this dinner was the perfect end to our day.
After dinner, we walked along the Riverwalk and reflected on how nice it was to be treated like welcomed guests at a restaurant. This owner and these staff really get it right! The prices were perfect, the meal was delicious, and service was absolutely fabulous.
Thank you High Rock Cafe. We are so glad we found you last night. You will definitely be remembered as one of the highlights of this trip! You were kind to us and to our Service dogs. That means so much more than you understand. We appreciate your tantalizing food, your comfortable venue, and your absolutely amazing...

If you come to the Dells, make this a staple. It was worth every dollar. The service was superb beginning to end. They even went so far to tell customers as they were being seated where things like the restroom were. That is real attention to your customer! The servers knew what to offer and explain as the specialties of their menu, and they weren't wrong. Let's start with the pork potstickers. It was more than just the stickers tasting amazing, the salad bed it came on had a delicious light sweetness to it. The Asian influence was definitely felt here. Then we had the Soprano Sandwich, All American, and Big Kid Mac and Cheese. While I would LOVE to delve deep into the intricate and phenomenal tastes of these, I think it better that you just see the pictures and look at their menu. The portions, as you will see in the pictures were very filling! I will say that the Big Kid Mac and Cheese was huge, the Soprano was light and savery in a delightful way, and the All American was truly a journey for the taste buds and did an amazing job of combining several of the restaurants signature dishes into one culinary experience. We ended on the dessert suggestions of our server. There was The High Rock's fantastic take on the homemade Kit Kat with ice cream and whipped cream as well as the Dirt n' Worms chocolate mousse. Personally, I believe I will never find a better concept of the homemade Kit Kat than with the chef owners of this restaurant. I will be back because I will always want more. Now, you will want to keep in mind in terms of price that we had one appetizer, three entrées, and two desserts. When you take into account the location, huge portions, and amount of dishes we got, the price...
Read moreI was really excited to try this restaurant while we were on vacation in the dells. However, we were greatly disappointed with almost all aspects of our dining experience. First, even though there were open tables that we could have sat at, we were quoted a 20 minute wait which turned into over 45 minutes. The tables only needed to be bused. They could have given me a bucket and I would have cleared the table for them... on a lighter note, the bartender that served us while we waited was AWESOME! second, it took over 15 minutes for anyone to come check on us once we had our table. Other tables were seated and had drinks before we were even welcomed. This was now over an hour of being in the restaurant. Third, the food was WAY OVERCOOKED and everything was really dry. Yet again our server never checked on us so I finally asked another server to find her. I ordered the adult Mac and cheese with chicken and my husband ordered the chicken and waffles. His potatoes were so dry he couldn’t eat them and my meal had almost no sauce with almost uncooked/hard noodles. I asked for more sauce or butter or anything to make my meal less dry and was immediately told that if I wanted it fixed, they would have to charge me for it. In a customer service industry, I do not ever feel it is acceptable to immediately tell me that I have to do something before you even try to rectify the problem. Give me some cream/butter/sauce, SOMETHING and i even told them i would add it myself. As a person that almost never complains, if I am asking for something, then there is something seriously wrong with my meal. I did not eat my meal and my husband ate almost none of his. We will never be going back, and advise if you do decide to try this restaurant, go in with low...
