One star is too much. This place has no respect for the deceased that are interred there. My mother was buried there on June 22, 2022. The monument/gravestone has not yet been erected, partially because there is no foundation yet. Since June, I have been there and relatives have been there. On several of those occasions (not just once) we/they found that the dirt on the grave was sunken in (it was lower than the surrounding ground) and that there were tractor tire marks on the actual grave. Also the temporary grave marker was just knocked down, driven over and ruined. These were tractor tire marks, not car tires. There was even a small 3 x 3 foot piece of plywood put on the grave as if that small piece of wood would protect the grave. And, the workers did not even remove the plywood when they were finished. It was left on the grave. I called the office on 2 occasions to complain, but the workers still continued to drive their tractors over the grave and desecrate it like that. We then bought dirt and pebbles with our own money and put them onto the grave to again raise the ground level above the grave higher than the surrounding ground. We also bought cinder blocks and put them around the grave (loosely without cement). But when I was there again 2 weeks ago, most of the cinder blocks were removed, there was another small piece of plywood left on the grave, there were more tractor tire marks, and the ground was yet again sunken in. I will not be surprised if my mother's plain pine coffin has been completely shattered because of the tractor's weight and the numerous times that it caused the dirt on the grave to be pushed down and sunken in. I am actually considering digging up the grave to see if that is so. I have pictures that were taken on the various occasions I or my relatives were there. My relatives called me from the cemetery because they were horrified! In short, this cemetery affords no respect to the...
Read moreOffice staff is rude, especially when you call to tell them that the grave site of your loved one is inaccessible because it's under water, or the plantings are all dead. Which is all the time. My father was buried in 1992. There are no live plants on the grave site. "That's a low-lying area", There's a problem with the soil in that section", "We're going to re-assess the plantings in the Spring", "...in the Fall", "...next Tisha B'av". (I was told that I could pay $4000 to have my dad moved to another grave site. Why did they sell my parents a grave site that wasn't fit for burial?) You can leave messages, but once they know you are calling with a problem, they won't call back. After Hurricanes Floyd and Sandy, most trees were destroyed and never replaced. Looks horrible. The older section of the cemetery (where you first drive in) is well maintained and obviously doesn't have the same issues as the newer sections. My advice, if your family doesn't haven't a plot in the old section, DO NOT buy a plot at Beth Israel. Your family will be sad every time they visit. - SEE RESPONSE FROM BETH ISRAEL STAFF FROM 1 YEAR AGO. THEY NEVER EVEN CALLED ME BACK!!! MOM DIED IN 2017. THEIR PLOT IS UNDER 6 INCHES OF WATER. WISH I COULD POST A PHOTO - HEARTBREAKING. I IMPLORE YOU - DO NOT BUY A PLOT FOR YOUR LOVED ONES IN THIS CEMETERY - OFFICE STAFF AND GROUNDS-CREW ARE OBVIOUSLY ANTI-SEMITIC AND THEY HAVE NO COMPASSION. WISH I COULD GIVE...
Read moreThis place is disgusting. Even the deceased are complaining. I’ll start with the bathrooms. The people who run this place don’t care about anything other than making money. I needed to use the restroom before going to visit my relative. The bathroom makes highway rest area bathrooms look like operating rooms. I don’t think I can put into words how run down and neglected the bathrooms are. Oh, and they really don’t want you cleaning your feet in the bathroom sinks. After my bathroom business, I proceeded to the office area to let the management know of my dissatisfaction, all I got was an angry stare and no answer as to why this place was so disgusting. Fast forward to my Grandmothers marker above her grave. Well guess what, it’s gone. We inquired about where it had gone and we were told that they moved it last week because of another burial. That would have been fine except for the fact that the ground was untouched and no other poor souls were placed in the ground next to my beloved grandmother. They flat out lied to us. I’m not really sure what to do about this place. It is a horrible situation run by horrible people who just don’t care. If you love your dead people, find somewhere else...
