Beautiful beach with lots of nature especially at dawn. I saw a huge deer drinking from the beach and it hurdled the guardrail with ease. It then ran across the street up that very steep and heavily brushed hill. The geese at the beach never cross the street because they know that the bigger animals are watching them from the hill's thick brush that begins directly across the street. It's very frustrating for the bigger animals because even though they have the best place to hide and watch the geese they would have to run across the very wide Mill Street to get a goose so it's just a waste of time. You can tell though when an animal is in that brush because the geese start running away to the water with their heads still turned to the hill. The geese eat all the bugs in the morning then most of them leave to explore the other parts of the reservoir so it works out well for everyone and the sand is still clean to put a towel on and go for a swim. And don't worry about the large animals that live on the hill across the street because I've never seen one at the beach during the day in the 15 years...
Read moreIt's a nice little place to spend the afternoon with little ones. It's not a huge area, but it's well maintained and the sand off the beach is nice and keeps the little ones occupied. There's a public restroom which was clean and they had three lifeguards on duty on a Thursday afternoon so that was nice. The parking spots for the beach are along Mill St. so they can fill up pretty fast, but we we're lucky that we found a place to park when we got there close to noon. Not a whole lot of shade, but we had our beach umbrella and blankets. Only a couple of benches, so beach chairs and blankets recommended. We packed lunch; no place to eat within walking distance once you're parked. Overall, a pretty good spot to cool off on...
Read moreIt was well kept. Children there were sooo happy. One family had a tent and a small charcoal grill. Saw an inflatable boat on & off the pond, with a small dog named "Frankie", a rescue. A wonderful woman named Bonnie was greeting most of the sunbathers. No lifeguard on duty but parents were very attentive to their children. I was grateful they cleaned the beach, last year there were many thorny items in the sand. This year was much nicer. Actual opening is scheduled for July 1st. I look forward...
