ModelCave (Hobby Shop) — Attraction in Ypsilanti

Wow wow wow wow wow.

Simply the best store I’ve been to when it comes to modeling and hobbies in the area. I was able to delete my online shopping cart, which I had reluctantly filled after not being able to find supplies and tools locally. The tag team duo behind the counter is simply splendid.

Unfortunately nowadays, I feel like walking into most hobby & gaming stores I find employees unable to answer my questions, unwilling to quickly tell me that they are not sure of the answer, and jaded by the products & people that occupy the space….not here.

Customers were greeted by name, and thanked because they had a recommendation that was well received. I was told everything I needed to know and more, and handed affordable options instead of (sometimes overpriced) name brand items. The best selection of models and tools I’ve seen in the area, easily finding stuff I was told was impossible to obtain by my (now previous) hobby store.

My only complaint is that Model Cave too good, my wallet is doomed, and I’ll simply HAVE to drive up from Toledo to get my injected molded crack. I’ll see you...

John and his wife, have brought something back to our area that has been missing for a very long time. No RC cars no RC planes no helicopters, just models. John has ship models, plane models ,car models, even Gundam and other Japanese anime inspired modeling. And on top of that, he has all of the necessary equipment, a huge and varied selection of paints, enamels lacquers and acrylics. And if he doesn't have it he will happily order it for you. Forget buying online, visit John and his wife, they have what you're looking for! Cannot say enough positive about this place, had all the parts I needed for my airbrushes in stock! Had all of the paints that I might possibly Ever Need in the correct shades! Valejo,humbrol,Testors,Mr paint... They have it all!
