Upon my arrival the people I encountered at the main desk we're very courteous and concerned for my welfare. I was able to be put in a room right away and explain to them my situation. I thought everything was going extremely well until the very end. I explained my situation to the ER doctor and he proceeded in running some test on things related to my previous visit at the catherization lab. I explained to them it was my back that was bothering me with a sciatic nerve pinch and the amount it was hurting me. He prescribed medication that would have eliminated or calmed the situation but he sent it to a pharmacy that did not carry that particular pain med. He went off duty and when I called back to the hospital ER to explain the situation he was gone and his backup was unable to send this med to a different location because he didn't write it. It has left me in pain for the last 4 days and no end in sight. There needs to be a little better check and balance between the ER and the pharmacies they deal with. Patience like myself should not have to be in total pain for days. I almost get the impression that they were not treating me for pain but possibly something related to my heart. They need to listen to the patient. I very seldom ever take anything more than Tylenol for pain . But in this situation it needed to be something a lot stronger . At this time several days later CVS Pharmacy in Dade City Zephyrhills and the Tampa area all do not have this particular pain med but across the street at Walgreens they do . The ER doctor simply had to cancel the CVS Pharmacy order and sent that same prescription to Walgreens just that simple . The ER this time let me down. I realized there is protocols when dispensing medication but one ER doctor needs to follow up with the previous doctor has done. I was caught in a what I call a catch-22 and it has not been Pleasant. If you would like you can call me I have a cell phone if you have any questions I would be happy to answer. It's hard to rate an ER when some was fantastic and some dropped the ball so I'm going to be on the low side because of all the pain I've been having. Thank you for listening sincerely...
Read moreI’ve had pleasent times at this ER before! Never had a bad experience but this one needs to be said:
Seriously could give it one star if I could. I gave myself a few days to really grasp what happened and to coordinate my thoughts. Went in with my wife on May 22nd around 5pm for a possible herniated disk. She had one prior and it was the same pain, so we assumed that was the issue. She claimed it’s been a while it’s been hurting but that day it just escalated to the point of hurting really badly and couldn’t move or bend.
We get to the hospital and wait nearly 2 hours to be seen. Then, once we’re back there, she’s placed in a room with a very uncomfortable recliner. Reminder, she’s there for a herniated disk. NOT GOOD ON THE BACK! They shove an IV in her, missed three times before actually getting a line in her hand. Then they take almost 10 vials of blood from her. Not sure WHY! Never answered me on that one.
Then, they immediately pump her full of morphine, Benadryl, a full IV bag and 2 doses of anti-vomit medication. Not at all what we were looking for them to do. We were asking about getting her back looked at. Maybe an X-ray or an MRI or something. She ended up violently vomiting from all the medications pumped into her for about an hour and they completely ignored us for the entire hour.
Finally, by the end of the entire ordeal…they claim they can’t find any issues. OH REALLY?! You X-rayed her lungs, not her back! YOU TESTED NOTHING RELATED TO WHAT WE CAME IN FOR!! You made her feel worse than when she came in! Worthless…another patient sat in a wheel chair for hours as well and finally he complained loud enough to be seen. He came in RIGHT after us and left before us…
I haven’t had a bad time here before but I guess I’m never going to bring her back here again. They pumped her full of drugs, didn’t check on her, didn’t accommodate her correctly, and told her she’s fine. Don’t go here if you’ve got pain that’s not visible on...
Read moreTook my wife to the ER at 10pm Thursday night 6/28 because her as well as others in our home got the flu but it was a concern for her because of her COPD. Everything was going fine when we got there. They took 4 blood samples, a urine sample and the nurses hooked her up to the heart monitor and IV. Then everything went downhill when Tom Park came in the room. We couldn't completely read his last name because it was covered. I tried looking for his name on the board and it was never updated at shift change because not one person on that board was in our room. He proceeded to tell us that we were there for COVID then I quickly corrected him that nobody said anything about COVID. His response was "that's not what his computer started. Then he started to say that she refused the heart monitor and then I showed him the cable coming from the machine to my wife's arm and connected to the pressure pad that the previous nurse had put on her arm. He asked if she wanted a breathing treatment but she just did one right before we drove there and you're not supposed to do multiple breathing back to back from what we were told so that was the only thing we refused. After Tom came into the room we was completed ignore for 2 hours the 4 samples of blood and urine sample sat on the sink the whole time and was never taken to the testing lab. We finally said screw it we're going to another hospital because of Tom's misdiagnose and lack of proper patient care they made my wife sign a refusal form before we left. The ER was not busy and we never saw doctor but we went to another ER and the care we got there was much better than what Tom...
