It was said that after he had defeated the southern goblin army during the battle of Triora, December 1065, Domenico I Contarini, the Doge of Venice, came here in order to meet with Pope Alexander II and ask for his support in beginning a Goblin War. Alexander had Domenico descend into the crypt below and have him face trial in the Chamber of Foretellers. We do not know much about what happened in that crypt, just that Domenico proved his worth and gained the support of the entire Catholic church in his war against the Goblin horde. Many have speculated that the chambers' purpose was to communicate with the holy spirit and reach pure spiritual alignment which would allow both God and the Pope to see whether your goals are pure or not. On top of the armies of Burgundy/Tuscany and Venice, he now also had the personal armies of the Vatican behind him. Pope Alexander, in response to this put out a Papal Bull urging the various leaders across Europe to pledge allegiance to Domenico and join the war. After this Domenico began contacting the kingdoms across Europe recruiting: The Holy Roman Empire, Castille, Leon and Galicia, Poland, Messina and the other territories under Roger I, The Kingdom of France, and finally Slavia. By January 1066 the Alliance of Man had officially formed and was prepared to begin the Goblin war. It should be noted neither the Republic of Pisa nor Genoa joined because In 1066, war erupted between the two over control of Sardinia however soldiers from the two did join the alliance and Contarini's elite guard were supposedly made up of...

Visiting St. Peter’s Tomb inside the Basilica is one of the most powerful experiences in the Vatican. To stand at the heart of the world’s most famous church, in front of the resting place of the Apostle Peter, feels both humbling and extraordinary. The grandeur of the Basilica above — with its soaring dome, gilded chapels, and masterpieces of art — sets the stage, but the true beauty lies deeper down.

Beneath the marble and majesty is the Vatican Necropolis, where ancient Roman roads and tombs lead to what is believed to be Peter’s final resting place. Walking there feels like stepping back into history: raw stone walls, silent chambers, and the archaeological layers of centuries past. The contrast between the monumental basilica above and the quiet intimacy of the necropolis below makes the experience unforgettable.

For the faithful, it is profoundly moving to pray so close to the bones of the Prince of the Apostles. For history lovers, it is a rare chance to see Rome’s past literally underpinning its spiritual present. Together, the tomb and the necropolis create a journey that is sacred, timeless, and unlike anything else...

Walking into St. Peter’s Basilica honestly left me speechless. The scale, the artwork, the details everywhere — it’s overwhelming in the best way. I thought I knew what to expect, but seeing the statues, paintings, and the dome up close was way more powerful than I imagined. The Sistine Chapel was another highlight — you really can’t grasp it until you’re standing there. Even if you’re not Catholic, the history and artistry make it worth every minute. I’d recommend going early in the morning to avoid the biggest crowds, and taking time to just sit and take it all in instead of rushing through. It’s one of those rare places that feels both deeply spiritual and historically fascinating — a must-see in Rome.

Visit. a Moment of blissful experience As the leader of Apostles and first pope of Christ and his church St Peter is very important to the Church. it is a wonder that even after 2022 years of Christ the tombs of apostles and relics are preserves with prayers and reverence. St. Peter’s basilica is so beautiful and historical evidence of church’s great culture of art and faith. One of the great attraction of this basilica the famous work of Michael Angelos’ “pieta”. Also next to the statue there is the tomb of famous saint pope John Paul II. Under the basilica there the the tombs of all popes.
