Amora Spa - Massage, Shampoo — Attraction in Hà Nội

I happened upon this massage parlour during my stay in the area, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Being the closest shop to me, I decided to check it out in the evening. The staff was exceptionally nice and even offered me a happy hour discount for the next morning, so I thought, why not? The prices were reasonable, and I ended up opting for a hair wash, not realizing it included a mini facial massage, which was a delightful surprise.

The hair wash and mini facial turned out to be excellent—luxurious in its own way. For about 7 USD, I found it to be a great deal. The staff was remarkably attentive and kind, creating a friendly atmosphere. They even went the extra mile by offering complimentary tea and sugar, adding a nice touch to the experience.

Although I only got to explore the top floor where the head massage took place, I wish I had more time to see the other floors. Keep in mind that there are several floors, so accessibility might be a concern for those with mobility issues. The overall cleanliness of the place was noteworthy.

The only minor critique I have is regarding the decor of the head massage room—it could use a bit of an update to enhance its appeal. Playing some gentle music could also contribute to a more spa-like and luxurious experience. I had a horrible experience. I came here for hair spa, and i regret it. The receptionist is very sweet which is the only good thing about this place. The woman who did my massage was not gentle, her nails were very long and she used nails to do my massage instead of her finger tips or palm. Instead of being relaxing, the massage was painful. It felt like i was being scratched by a cat. She kept getting water in my ear which was painful, and when i was trying to get water out of my ear, she put her finger into my ear canal without asking, since her nail was so long my ear still hurts. During the massage, she kept turning my neck, she was not gentle and it hurt a lot. Moreover, the 30 minute massage only lasted 20 minutes, but I’m not even complaining because i was praying for it to end. I had to climb 5 sets of stairs, and it was very hot upstairs, i wish they had atleast turned on the air conditioning. After the massage, i asked her to use the blow dryer to set my hair (which in my country is included in any hair wash service), and she told me to go to a barber. It wouldn’t have taken her more than 5 minutes to set my shoulder length hair.. The whole experience was so painful i just wanted to get out of that place as fast as possible, i even submitted a good feedback form because i was so overwhelmed with the awful experience. 10.09.2024. My wife and I visited this place for the "Nourishing shampoo and facial care" program (75 minutes).

Positives: Friendly receptionist who speaks English; Relaxing and quiet music at the lobby; Tasty tea and snacks.

However, the massage did not meet our expectations.

Negatives: The massage room on the 4th floor looks old and lacks aesthetic details; We would have liked to hear music to enhance the relaxation experience; The lighting was too bright, making it difficult to relax; The most uncomfortable part was the massage bed. At 180 cm tall, I had to lie with my knees bent, and even my wife, who is 165 cm, experienced the same discomfort. There was no neck pillow, making it hard to relax; The quality of the massage was below our expectations. It might be enjoyable for first-time visitors to Vietnam, but we have enough experience to compare, and many hair salons offer similar or even better quality, though for shorter durations.

Overall, we left disappointed as there was no real relaxation, and I experienced discomfort in my lower back from lying in an awkward position.
