Hanoi Nostalgia Hotel & Spa — Hotel in Hà Nội

the room was pretty noisy not only with music but also somewhere was contributed. so at the night time was noisy with music(well i liked it though), at the morning or day time was noisy with drilling or hitting pipe etc.

i was booked 1 night at the first time and when i check in,i payed it. and then extend 2 times with 1days more for each cause of i felt sick as much as i couldnt go down to take free breakfast and i wanted to relax more. and when i extended 2nd time, suddenly got call from front and she asked me i want to change the room or not. i said it's ok i will keep the room. after that she request me to pay the hotel fee. well i really didnt know why i have to pay for that time cause of normally payment was happened when we check out and anyhow they need to check other fees riase up. and even i was down to pay, they charge me only room fees (even though i took wine and sodas..etc..) still now i dont know why i had to take this annoying. and sure when i check out,also had to wait to check n pay what i used. then why i had to spend time like that? well if my condition was ok, maybe it was no problem but i really needed to rest, and it was annoying really bad. even she said sorry, if i had to came down like that,i am sure i would change hotel though.

the pool is small but it was ok. unless there was some of bugs flow on the water n nobody care for it.

in the room, the balcony was blocked to open. so i cannot use balcony at all. just noisy musics only. but i like to listen noisy music during i sleep. so music was ok but you dont need to spend more money for balcony cause of anyhow it will be not opened at all.

in the room has many of flyes n mosquitoes. i catch more than 7 mosquitoes but still got bite a lot. and in the room has small ants also. i bought a bread for dinner and i put it on the table. after some hours when i opened it, omg. the ants was gethering on the bread!!

over all, i will not use this hotel again. the price is simular with other 4 stars hotels near there, the service was not so good and annoying, the break fast also so so, and specially i dont want to feed mosquitoes and ants.

the only thing i liked here was wine in the room. well i didnt expect good quality but it was cheap but pretty good to...

Location- Great location, right smack in the middle of the night life. Walkable distance to multiple places of interest. Though it can get pretty chaotic at times, due to night road closure, you have to walk your way in. Drivers refuse to drive you in.

Cleanliness- Decent, clean but old towels and pillow and bed sheets have visible stains.

Staff- Bad. Raining heavily during our visit, and the bellman saw us struggling with luggage but did not appear to help. Local taxi driver did the exceptional service by taking an umbrella and help with our bags. (FYI, he scolded the bellman, LOL)

Facilities- Had a pool in the middle of the hotel, looks nice but if you have the rooms around the pool, it can get very echoey from the pool users. Beside that, nothing much of facilities. They don’t provide bottled water, but rather water in a glass bottle that will Be replenished everyday.

Plus points- There is a booth that recommend you tour trips, that lady is very polite and helpful. Regardless if you take up their service or not. Displayed utmost hospitality and professionalism. Kudos to her service. Multiple local delicacy and pubs near the area. (Go to the restaurant for food, cause the pubs and bar serve terrible food.)

Minus points- Room ceiling in the suite toilet is leaking water. Solution? Put a floor mat to absorb the leak. .

Although the hotel is located in a central location the room we stayed in (#403 and the adjoining room) had a smell of sewage that was so strong that we were unable to sleep at night. One of the staff members mentioned to me that it had been a problem for the past few months. The staff was aware of the smell because when I entered the room all of the doors and windows were open but I was not informed of the issues. After I closed the doors and windows the smell would build up to a level that was nauseating.

When I approached the female staff member that worked at the front desk she offered me a discount. I later found out that the discount was given to me but she listed me as a no show. This allowed the hotel to discount the price of the room based on what they would have had to pay my travel agency in commission. Therefore, they did not lose any money. The travel agency lost money and I had a mark on my record with my travel agency. When I explained this to the front desk the lady just smiled and would not pay attention to my issue.

This hotel has the potential of being nice if they fix this issue but the problem is bad enough to ruin any time you would spend in the hotel. I would avoid and stay at some of the other establishments near this amazing area.

Vietnam is great but don't let a hotel with shady practices that tries to hide smelly rooms from ruining part of your stay.

They do offer airport transportation but they did not follow up with our e-mail conversation and we had to schedule our own...
