Vietnam Women's Museum: A Celebration of Vietnamese Women's Heritage
Located in the heart of Hanoi, on Ly Thuong Kiet Street, the Vietnam Women’s Museum (Bảo tàng Phụ nữ Việt Nam) is a prominent cultural institution that celebrates the pivotal role of women in Vietnam’s history and society. Opened in 1995, the museum offers an insightful look into the lives, struggles, and achievements of Vietnamese women throughout the ages.
The museum’s exhibits are spread across several floors, showcasing diverse aspects of Vietnamese women’s lives, from their traditional roles in family and society to their contributions in the fields of politics, culture, and warfare. Notable exhibits include traditional costumes, jewelry, and artifacts representing various ethnic groups in Vietnam, as well as displays highlighting the courage of women during the wars of resistance.
The museum’s space is thoughtfully designed, with interactive exhibits, multimedia displays, and educational sections that invite visitors to explore the powerful stories of women who have shaped the nation’s history. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and cultural events, further enhancing its role as a center for learning and cultural exchange.
With its combination of historical education, cultural celebration, and social awareness, the Vietnam Women’s Museum offers a fascinating and enriching experience for visitors looking to understand the invaluable contributions of women to Vietnam’s past...

Read moreI enjoyed the museum. Considering some other museums that I visited in Vietnam (2 in Ho Chi Minh, 1 in Hoi An, and 1 in Cat Ba Island), I believe this is one of the bests in Vietnam. In my view, dividing the exposition in 3 single circled floors (Women in Family, Women in History, and Women in Fashion) is a nice and solid form of conveying the message of the importance of the woman in the country, which I believe, is one of the most interesting things of the Vietnamese society. I didn’t dedicated too much time to the third floor, though. However, that’s a good sign that shows why fashion should be conveniently located at the last floor. In any case, I might say someone might find it interesting.
Pd: It even has a very well conserved propaganda poster that I found in a museum in Cat Ba. You can see...
