The new Brick and Barrel is smaller but also cozier than its old place. The food is on the pricy side, but the quality is quite high. We ordered a BBQ bacon sandwich, chicken sandwich, and house salad. The BBQ sandwich is absolutely fantastic for its money. Really thick, juicy patty. The buns are nice, slightly crispy, and full of flavor. The chicken sandwich... hmm I'm a bit of a chicken snob so I maybe unfair to the restaurant. I still wouldn't use chicken breast for a sandwich (thigh is where it's at). That said, the restaurant does the chicken justice. The cutlet is thin and wide so the marinade has a lot to work with here. The breading is flavorful and crispy. The pickle adds acidity to offset any dryness from the chicken breast. Speaking of, that's some great quality chicken meat. I can still taste flavor from the meat itself, absent the breading and surface marinade.
Now the salad. My biggest complaint is that the salad doesn't deliver the value it should have. It's priced at 160k vnd, just 20k shy off the full burger combo, but you can't really have the salad as a complete meal by itself. It's presented well but it's essentially a bowl of chopped veggies with a single soft boiled egg sliced up in small wedges... plus salad dressing.

I really think they can do better here for that price. I would have loved some small strips of chicken, corn, or even cubes of soft tofu. Something more to justify the 160k price tag you know.
That said, I have to give this to them. The veggies quality is great. Being a consumate veggies eater nomming half a kilo of leafies per day I should know. The lettuce is crisp, fresh, and sweet. I actually ate most of the salad without the dressing, which I think it doesnt need. The veggies have more than enough flavor...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDid read so much good things so I gave 3 chances and very disappointed! Two of these visits they run out of pizza, last yesterday ( came at 8pm ) . Once a week ago, it was my fault not to read the content of each pizza so I get my seafood pizza made with pesto instead of tomato sauce- but the pizza was served lukewarm. As pizza came out of oven already the waiter did come to table to ask if we like paprika powder on the pizza or beside... shouldnāt he asked before? As we asked for check it took just 30 seconds to bring the bill , but 2 minutes until they collected the money and 5 minutes to bring the change. Unbelievable! Too long for my 5 years old daughter... I guess I was just a bit unlucky as the ratings for B&B are great. I need a half hour motorbike drive with my family to come to there , so it was very disappointing for all of us that they yesterday run out of pizza and it was that what we came for! I m a pizza lover - so probably I will come once more to try ur pizzas - , but my wife had have enough.
Update : In the reply of owner not even a hint of apologies! Asking me how the pizza could get lukewarm the 4 m to my table ? He should ask the staff and not me. And in the reply he did say that a bill getting under 10 minutes is normal. Really? In a restaurant with just 2 other tables having guest ? As we did come at 8 they told us that they run out of pizza and will have again at 9pm, thatās not just 30 minutes! However, the owner reply changed my disappointment to anger ! So I did down my previous rating of 2...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBrick and Barrel (or B&B if you're hip and quick and need to abbreviate everything) is simply spectacular. This is not an $80 plate, gourmet experience with tiny plates filled with crustaceans previously believed to be extinct.
No, B&B is a smorgasboard of solid American staples that are rarely seen in top-notch form outside those borders. Their jalapeƱo poppers are delectable, chicken fingers with accompanying sauces exquisite, and of course their collection of pizza and burgers will satisfy nearly all palates ranging from finicky 3 year olds to pretentious 30 year olds to everyone in-between.
Although B&B opened amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, it's pulling through the dearth of tourists and will be a welcome sight for those travel weary backpackers in search of a meal that tastes like home. For everyone else, it's just darn good chicken, burgers, pizza, and fried things for a price that isn't awful.
Their staff are friendly, eager to learn, and reflect the welcoming ethos of their managers. B&B is great for delivery when you want to stay in and even better to visit as the positive vibes, maintained by the staff and managers, make the meal that much better.
Should you eat here everyday? Well, not if you want to keep your BP and waistline where your doctor would like. Will you...
