Ovenmaru has been around for a while, and I remember trying it 7-8 years ago. It’s still one of the best spots for chicken lovers. Their focus on chicken dishes is the real highlight. They offer a variety of sauces, and the prices are very reasonable. A small portion costs around 1xx k but is big enough for 2-3 people, which makes it way better value than places like KFC, Texas, or McDonald’s.
One thing I really like is the free sides they serve when you dine in: a mixed salad, pickled radish, and kimchi. If you need more, they’ll charge about 25k VND per portion, which is still pretty affordable.
The food here is so good. Aside from chicken, their cheesy fried rice are must-tries — so much cheese! They also have buttery bread with dipping sauces, which is super tasty, and the rice rolls are also worth mentioning. Even their seafood sauces are decent. For the price, I’d give the food a 9.5/10.
That said, the ambiance could use some love. The space feels a bit old and isn’t super inviting — maybe a 6/10. The staffs are okay, friendly enough, but not super attentive, so I’d rate the service around 8/10.
All in all, if you’re into chicken, Ovenmaru is totally worth it. The food really stands out, and the prices are great for the...
Read moreCame here for date night and we were really impressed. We’ve tried a few other places and the toppoki usually is disappointing for me so I didn’t have high hopes for the one here. However, it was delicious! I loved it, my partner loved it. I don’t like when toppoki is soupy and this one wasn’t, perfect amount of cheese. I just wish the sauce had more flavor, tasted a bit tasteless. We also ordered the Korean sauce chicken and that was delicious! So much flavor and the chicken was tender. We also ordered gimbap and fried - gimbap was eh, nothing great about it. Fries were good, nice to snack on as we waited for the main dishes. We really wanted to try the curry chicken but they didn’t have an option for just the chicken with the...
Read moreI had a craving for korean chicken style so my friend and I decided to try Ovenmaru instead of our usual spot. It was kinda disappointed. The only main star here was the chicken but of course it’s main ingredient in every dish here anyway. It was juicy and tender. But if the sauce could be up to par with it then it would be perfect. It wasn’t spicy enough and too sweet for my taste as well as not cheesy enough for the cheese dish. It wasn’t as hot as it should be just put of the oven when we had to wait for 15-20 minutes for each dish.
So we give 3/5 for the food and 2/5 for the service. Because the staff was pretty inappropriate from the moment we stepped in...
