Russian Market, Ho Chi Minh — Attraction in Ho Chi Minh City

The Russian market, a very good market for a few reasons. Firstly the vibe, Ben thanh is such a noisy, aggressive place, the Russian market is chill and the vendors are very polite there’s no shouting or grabbing of arms here. You can look and shop at your own leisure and actually spend a bit longer deciding, browsing and comparing prices. There is a lot of winter clothes here, enough jackets to clothe all Saigon. So perfect if you’re heading back to the cold. Prices vary here, bartering isn’t allowed with most of the stalls but they will lower the price and cut deals all the same. Better quality clothes in my opinion that the other markets, after chatting with some of the suppliers they said most of the clothes there are actually factory seconds and seconds, still legit though. I did not even know there was a marketplace called Russian Market until I was brought there by a local friend. The clothes especially T-shirts and pants were very much cheaper than Ben Tahn market and you need not bargain much as most have prices on the items and even then, the price is very reasonable. Since I have the habit of bargaining and negotiating, I managed to get further discount but not much. You can find variety of dresses too and winter clothing, but not fabrics for you to get and make your own dress. There are shawls too and children's clothes. Used to be good but every time I go now it gets worse. Almost as bad as Ben Thanh now. Sellers outright refusing to bargain. Obvious and obnoxious tactics.Sky-high prices for fake, substandard clothing. I'm pretty sure the owners are directing their employees to stiff white people. My most recent experience I went to get a pair of work pants. Found a pair that looked ok but obviously fake. They had them all tagged out too which is funny. Said $65 US. They wanted 550.000.
