The M Gallery at Ho Chi MInh City is a luxurious and well-located hotel. It is within 5 to 10 mins walk to historic places that one must visit while in HCM. It has all the features and beauty of a 5-star hotel. However, what sets it apart from the rest of the 5-star hotel is the hotel staff and the services provided. When I walked into the hotel and tried checking in, the duty manager at the front desk checked my passport and found out that I am a Platinum member and directed me to the executive lounge for the check-in. What impressed me was that in the few seconds she checked my passport, she remembered my name and address me by my name when I re-appeared in the lobby the next day.
The manager and staffs at the executive lounge are very helpful and attentive to the guest needs. Their service is excellent. An example is that they found out that I like green tea as I ordered it for breakfast and a few occasions. When I go to the lounge to relax and read my book, they would bring a pot of green tea without me even asking for it. The green tea is served in very beautiful china tea pot set.
When my hand-held shower head leaked during usage, I reported it via the housekeeping number. Within 10 mins, one of the housekeeping staffs who was doing her daily duties knocked on my door to investigate the issue. The next moment, she took out her mobile phone and took a photo of the problematic part. She told me that she is sending it to their maintenance team to change the shower head for me. While they were looking into this issue, I went to the lounge to relax. When I reached the lounge, I was surprised that the staff there knew about my problem and assured me that the issue is being resolved and apologies for the inconvenience. I was in the lounge for about an hour to read my book. When I returned to my room, the shower head was replaced and the room cleaned. This is what I call service excellence. The communication within the hotel team assured that any guest complaint is address immediately. I had come across hotels where guest complaint went into a black hole and the guest had to remind the front desk many times before the issue was addressed. To top off my experience on this issue, the Room Director got to know about it and sent a very nice BBQ Pork sandwich and 2 bottles of fresh watermelon juice the next day for the inconvenience caused. Excellent service!
The hotel has excellent buffet lunch and dinner, but my personal favourite is their Wagyu Beef Pho. It is the best beef pho I have ever had. It is even better than the Wagyu Beef Pho at the Sofitel Metropole in Hanoi (That is my favourite hotel in Hanoi). All the staffs at the Saigon Kitchen gave excellent service.
I will definitely be staying in M Gallery the next time...

Read moreWe had a wonderful 3 night stay for my birthday weekend in July. I have broken the review down into sections below. Overall, 5/5 stay rivalled only by some of the finest 5 stars I’ve stayed at.
Location: Hotel is well located in the central area. Everything important and worth seeing is within walking distance.
Hotel overall: As you enter the hotel, you’re greeted with modern traditional decor that’s not over the top, rather very elegant. The staff’s uniform is the best I’ve seen at any 5 star I’ve stayed at.
Staff: The staff are well spoken, knowledgeable and very kind. They go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable. We were always greeted with polite conversation and and big smiles. They are extremely well dressed and polished.
Room: As with the theme of the hotel, the room has a modern traditional design with heavy French influence. The rooms are small but well designed to make them feel roomy. The bathing area is separated by a curtain, however, the toilet and shower have separate rooms. The room is equipped with a multi-port chargers. The bed is very comfortable but the pillows were not. Despite getting some off the menu, we couldn’t find one that suit our needs. Memory foam would have been nice. They also provide 4 bottles of water a day, but you can call for more and they have no issues replenishing unlike other hotels in HCMC. There is a coffee machine (Nespresso) and a mini bar which we did not use. The bath amenities smelt heavenly.
Breakfast: we had access to daily breakfast. No complaints here. You have everything you could think off and the food is delicious. The pastry section was exemplary. The staff were attentive and replenished cutlery without even asking.
In-room dining: We ordered in-room dining few times, the food was okay but I highly recommend eating in the city instead.
Rooftop bar: There is a rooftop bar worth attending. We didn’t order any drinks but the view was fantastic.
Spa: Had a wonderful and relaxing signature treatment but not the best we’ve experienced at a hotel spa. Left a lot to be desired and our experience was soured when we found out that the same treatment at their other branch is half the price. Despite this overcharging, the lady at the reception of the spa tried to force us to tip in addition to the ludicrous service charge they...
