Visited BA in January and stayed at the Gran Hotel Vedra. Most of the time everything was fine, building is slightly old and not all staff speak English but it was worth the price we paid. ||||However, on our last day, as I was in our room, a big cement piece of the ceiling fell and missed my head by a few centimetres. It also ruined all our clothes, covering them in a thick line of dust. I immediately ran downstairs in a panic (from nearly getting smashed by the ceiling) and the reception did not seem very worried and just offered to switch our rooms and maybe clean up the mess. There was no apology and they did not even seem to acknowledge that if the CEMENT BLOCK hit my head, I would be in hospital. ||||Despite all of this, they had the audacity to still charge us for the full 5 nights and refused to give us the room for free! ||||Do not stay here, it is really an old building and not safe! Read moreExcellent price for a nice hotel located 2 blocks away the congress building, 5 from the obelisco, 7 from the Teatro Colon, and sorrounding squares and attractions, 4 from Cafe Tortoni. Over Avenida de Mayo, with a subway station in front, next to Palacio Barolo, with all the basic comfort you need, in safe, centric area. ||The rooms may need some remodeling, but are more than ok. Clean, acceptable size, clean bed, clean bathroom, quiet, working TV, good Wifi. The staff is helpful and kind. Has safe boxes in a separate room, which is very secure. They will keep your luggage if you arrive earlier. ||The only improvement area is the breakfast, which is good, but 90% of it is sweet pastry. I know that for the price, you cannot expect a 5 stars, all inclusive hotel breakfast, but a a balance in sweet and salty will be nice.||This hotel lets you enjoy Buenos Aires deeply in a comfortable,...
Read moreThis hotel is really old and I couldn't believe it when I entered my room. There was no fridge, no kettle and the air conditioner had no remote. The TV is the old portable colour TV, but it was in a working condition. The only good thing about this hotel was the central location on Av. De Mayo, so you could walk to some of the sightseeing places nearby. There is a Starbucks cafe a block away and a Carrefour Supermarket, in opposite directions. You also have the luxury of a Standard Bank ATM, two blocks away with a Pharmacy on your way there. The hotel staff at reception was helpful with one guy being able to help in decent US English. The Wifi was working fine to intermittently and the breakfast is just bread rolls, patries, juice, coffee, all very basic. In terms of location, you...
