Ávila — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

I ordered the Pabellón Criollo, arguably Venezuela’s national dish. The food took about an hour to arrive and it was lukewarm. I asked them to reheat it and it came back in the same lukewarm state. So I sent it back one more time. I am sitting here genuinely wondering if this is how this national dish is served? My guess is that it is not, and everything is pre-made and sitting at a buffet in the back and just plated. I was starving so I ate everything. The food was well seasoned. The black beans perhaps on the saltier side. The fruit smoothies were very good. The waiters had the temerity of telling me the food was actually hot and the service took unreasonably long.

Very bad experience, owner very rude attitude and treat with clients, unable to take any question for menu, options, etc. Very unpolite approach. Avoid go to this place. He didn’t want us to pay since we chose not to take full menu, only tapas, not advised before or on arrival how food service was at night. Then invited us to leave saying he needs the table to be free. Awful, unexpected and disappointed experience choice. We only saw 1 flamenco show, asked if there was other and say no, soon after we move out second show started. Clearly he want us to be out. He was mad with us for unknown cause and badly treated as clients. Worse...

Avila es uno de esos lugares de los cuales seguís hablando mucho tiempo después de haberlo visitado. Es de esos lugares que vas a recomendar a los que consideres que van a disfrutar la experiencia de sentarse a comer en un lugar así. Para empezar tenés que saber que no hay menu, desde que te sentas a eso de las 9 de la noche, hasta poco pasadas las 12 no vas a hacer otra cosa que comer sin parar. Arrancan con un tapeo que te traen en platitos, y antes que termines llega otro, y otro y otro. Todo, absolutamente todo es comida de otro nivel, todo tiene un gusto especial, todo te deja con la boca abierta, con una sonrisa. El plato principal es una cazuela que como le dije a su dueño y anfitrión, era un poema. Por último llega el postre que es una especie de moño de lujo a todo lo que estábamos viviendo, la natilla es sencillamente un viaje de ida. En el lugar sirven sidra de barril, definitivamente la sidra más rica que tome en mi vida y lo que más recomiendo para acompañar los platos. Todo esto vine de la mano de dos shows con unos guitarristas, unas bailaoras y cantantes que convierten a Ávila en una experiencia sin igual. Miguel, su dueño y anfitrión es hombre de pocas palabras, pero se le adivina en su manera de ser una enorme compromiso por mantener el legado del lugar intacto... Y lo logra con creces. Querés comer comida típica española como si estuvieras en la mismísima España? no lo dudes un segundo, es por lejos el mejor lugar en el país...
