This is a tough one to start. Let's do the GOOD / BAD / UGLY approach.
Summary of the below (if you don't have the time to read it all). I would not recommend this place to anyone. I would never stay at this place again. The lack of cleanliness in this so-called 5 star hotel is laughable. I think the picture speaks for themselves.
The GOOD: The only thing that was good about this place is the reception staff and the concierges. Very friendly and helpful in finding your way around the city.
The BAD: We went to Australia for the first time and wanted to ensure we had a good place to stay as we were traveling with a toddler. We even paid for an extra night stay because we wanted an early morning check in as our flight landed at 8am.
We got to the hotel check in and got up to our room and our toddler ran to the window to see the view and moved the curtains (as kids do) and a cloud of dust filled the room to a point we all started coughing and we had to leave the room. We went back to the front desk and mentioned that the room is extremely dusty and not clean at all. And asked them to clean the room as we went for a quick bite to eat.
When we came back 1.5 hours later it was better but not fully cleaned. Brought it back to the attention of staff and manager and they both apologized but the cleaning did not get better during our stay.
We stayed in the hotel for 10 days and the pictures attached for the 10 days proving that the cleaning was never done properly. We called in each day after leaving the room to have it cleaned. If we did not call the room did not get cleaned.
The UGLY: Our toddler was in the process of being potty trained so as we set them on the toilet we noticed black mold growing under the rim of the toilet, this was the most disgusting thing we have ever witnessed in a 5 star hotel.
floors not vacuumed no dusting being done bathroom floor not mopped (we had to use towels to cover the floor to have a sense of cleanness) Toilets not being cleaned The showers had gunk on the glass panels. Table tops not being wiped down Counters not being cleaned. Dirty and used dishes not being cleared from the room Room coffee cups not being cleaned or replaced. Or replaced with dirty spoons (in picture) that stays that way for the last 2 days. towels left on the dirty table and not put back in the bathroom used towels not removed from the bathroom bathroom sink not cleaned.
Now the basics, the towels provided to us were ripped and torrent with holes or the whole border coming off them. The hotel could not even bother to replace them as they aged. Not to mention that the towers are so rough they can take your skin of.
I approached the management on my last day once again, just to see if they had any interest in marking up for all the short fall. I even offered to take the management team through a walkthrough after the cleaning staff had gone through the place. But they refuse to do the walk through. But after reviewing all the pictures we showed them and them having a log of our 12-13 calls to have the room cleaned they offered a in room dinner certificate of $300 to make up for it. We spent just over $5,000.00 on our stay at this "5-star" hotel.
It was abundantly clear that the management team really did not care about customer experience. My email to them came back with a simple generic answer and it showed they did not even read the full email.
Very disappointing experience overall. I would never return to this place again and would never recommend this...

Read moreI absolutely love the hotel and it has such a great ambiance. My first stay was phenomenal and I absolutely loved everything about the hotel. This is my second visit and I was very excited expecting the same wonderful experience. Maybe this time, I might have set the bar too high. my second visit a W Brisbane was quite a disappointment (19-21 Dec). I notified the hotel via the app that I will be arriving on Sunday the 19th around 3:30 pm and it did say the room is ready to check-in upon my arrival however when I arrived, the room wasn't ready( there was some mix ups) and was told that the wait is going to be roughly around 10 mins and the staff member who checked us in offered us to have a complimentary drink at the bar whilst waiting for the room which was a nice gesture of him. However, the wait became 1 hour (if I was told this at the beginning, that would have been much better since I then have a clear expectation on when the room will be ready) and we didn't hear back from anyone (I was promised a call but no one called me). I was quite frustrated since we attended the wedding the night before and we were so ready to have a little rest in the room and freshen up for the dinner reservation which was booked for 5:30 pm. I was just about to go to the front desk and ask how much longer we had to wait to check-in and as I got up the staff who took us to the bar came back and said he tried to call me to let me know that the room was ready but for some reason, he wasnt able to get through and it went to VM instead. I found this quite strange since I had my phone right next to me all time and my partner also called my mobile to check and that call came through without an issue. Anyway, we got in the room and we were looking for our luggage that we dropped off at the check-in around 3:30 pm at the lobby with the front desk staff. Our luggage wasn't in the room and we waited around 5-10 mins for it but it didn't turn up so my partner went downstairs and spoke to the front desk and they said they were about to bring it up. At this point, I was pretty put off by the whole thing. I know it is a small thing and some may think that I am making a big deal but I personally believe attention to details and making sure that guests have smooth and easy check-in process is the most important thing for W Brisbane to be considered as a great hotel(not just a good hotel). Having a seamless stress free check-in would have definitely made our stay much enjoyable...
