ORDERED NOV 2024: G.O.A.T: with duck & roasted pork belly ($18.29)

REVIEW: ❤ Banh mi is airy and crumbly, crust shattering in my hands. A little bit messy, it's still worth every bite. You can actually taste a distinct duck flavour, while the crunch of the pork belly keeps things interesting.

🥇 My personal leaderboard: G.O.A.T Crispy pork Hanoi Cha ORDERED OCT 2024: 🥪 Hanoi Cha Cold meats 🥪 Crispy pork ($15.00)

It was $15.75pp which included card surcharge.

REVIEW: ❤ Delicious and decadent. It's truly an elevated banh mi with so much colour, texture and flavour. In the hanoi cha, you have fried pork floss to add that savoury crunchy detail. Crispy pork belly with a perfect fried pork top and fatty pieces that make your insides melt. Both have thick cut radishes which really lets you taste the subtle sweet vinegar concoction. ✔ Shallots to add an addictive caramelized flavour. ✔ The bread is flaky, light and fresh which is so important. Fast service too! Crispy pork was my personal favourite out of the 2 for me.

They were accommodating in cutting the bread in 2 for us. Important, since my friend and I wanted to try each other's banh mi's! 🤝

No seating area but a modest hole in the wall. Although the price tag is steep, I compare it to the other premium sandwich offerings in Docklands and it's well priced. ☺

I'm looking forward to trying the...

Strong start with Banh mi Stand.

Today I got two banh mis to try; Hanoi Cha and the Braised Pork. Upon first glance you can see that each of these banh mi’s were packed solid and not just with meat but also with the condiments and other toppings making it full of flavour and consistent with every bite.

The Hanoi Cha was fresh and so aromatic as the pickled carrots were sweet and not too sour making it very well balanced to then be complimented by the bo (butter/mayo) which gave it a deluxe creamy texture. Every bite allowed me to capture the essence of every component and rather than fight each other it worked well to complete each other.

The Braised Pork was something very different to what I usually get but I thought it would be worth a shot for travelling out of the way for this place and that it was. The flavour completely bursts in your mouth as you take a bite. The meat was tender and with the buttery mayo it made it even seem even more so.

The only downside for me at the moment is the location as well as the Pate. Although the pate was really nice it lacked a bit of depth and was quite one dimensional- too meaty. I prefer more of a fattier, creamier Pate to melt in your mouth.

Overall this was a very strong first impression and I could definitely go around having this again. It may have entered my top...

If you're a fan of banh mi, you absolutely must visit Banh Mi Stand. I recently had the pleasure of trying their Tofu Banh Mi, and I can confidently say it is one of the best I have ever tasted. The first thing you'll notice is the long queue of people, a clear testament to the popularity and quality of their offerings. Despite the wait, the experience is worth every minute.

The Tofu Banh Mi is a delightful symphony of flavors and textures. The tofu is perfectly seasoned and has a wonderful, slightly crispy exterior while remaining tender and juicy inside. Paired with fresh, crunchy vegetables, fragrant cilantro, and a hint of spice, each bite is a delightful balance of sweet, savory, and tangy notes. The bread is a standout feature as well—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, providing the perfect vessel for the delicious fillings.

At just $11, the Tofu Banh Mi is not only delicious but also a great value. It’s generously sized and quite filling, making it a satisfying meal that won't break the bank.

Banh Mi Stand is highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and incredibly tasty banh mi experience. Once you take that first bite, you'll understand why it's so beloved. Don’t miss out...

I ordered The Goat and it was pretty filling! The inside was packed full of roast pork and duck meat + chilli oil 🌶 However, I felt like the meat was lacking a bit of flavour. The taste was mostly umami only, so it wasn't salty or sweet. If they add more flavour punch 👊 into their meat, they can be the king of banh mi in Melbourne.
