This is a drink slash Dessert Place inside the Regent Place Mall in the city. Keeping with the theme of the more, it is a Japanese themed green tea style dessert place. The claim the green tea powder comes from kagoshima which I don't know if it's a particularly famous place for that.

Good when you need a cold drink and nothing's open cuz it's good Friday. Apart from the milk-based drinks there are a few random desserts that seemed to be added on as time goes by.

The 'tiramisu' is a no go. It's just a tub of cream with a spoon full of azuki something inside and matcha powder on top. It looks interesting and even appetizing when you first see it. At over $10 it's both a rip off and a disappointment. Even the kids didn't want any. We couldn't finish it between 4 people.

The drinks were fine, but they could have been made by any shop. Not necessarily a specialist shop. I guess they didn't really claim to be a specialist.

In terms of the matcha it's not high quality stuff. Just regular grade stuff you would get in any shop. I'm not a great expert but when I visited specialty matcha places in Japan you could really tell the difference. For example the places near temples in Kyoto, or in Uji. Even the soft serve you should be able to tell. But there is no special excitement to this one. Doesn't mean it's bad it's just a regular place and you shouldn't expect too much.

I recommend you keep with the cold drinks and ignore the rest...

the young woman cashier with the short bob haircut came across unfriendly and like you were burdening her for purchasing something. the other two girls were nice.

i also asked for two matcha lattes and what i meant was the regular size but because i didn't state this, the server with the bob hair cut decided to put it in as large. i don't like this type of deceiving behaviour because you could've asked.

She did ask whether i wanted six or eight takoyaki balls when i ordered them so clearly she knows the difference between sizes and the need to clarify.

she also didn't seem happy when i requested my receipt, which should be part of the transaction anyway but i'm in the habit of asking because a lot of the time, cashiers don't hand it to you automatically.

this place is known for its japanese drinks, icecream and snacks, however unfortunately it doesn't come with that world-famous and effortless polite japanese customer service regarding the chick with the bob haircut only.

my matcha latte also had clumps of matcha in it which was unpleasant to taste when i was nearing the bottom of my drink. this means it wasn't whisked properly.

probably won't be back. i need to find another matcha place with more friendly customer service because it's unpleasant to encounter angry customer service people who are bitter about something and want to take...

I had a disappointing experience with the customer service during my first visit to the shop last night. I ordered through the QR code at my table, which included a table number, so I assumed the order would be brought directly to me. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize there was a screen displaying order numbers, as I was seated facing away from it and only noticed it later.

As a result, my ice cream sat out for more than 10 minutes without anyone notifying me, and both items melted. While I acknowledge that I could have paid more attention to the surroundings and noted my order number, it was my first visit, and I assumed the system would account for the table number when delivering the order.

What was particularly frustrating was the lack of initiative or consideration from the staff. No one checked which table the order belonged to, nor did they alert me that my order had been sitting out. I paid $22 for 2 ice creams with add-ons but ended up with a soup-like dessert.

To make matters worse, when I raised my concerns, the team leader was extremely dismissive, showing no sympathy and insisting the issue was entirely my fault. A little understanding and better communication from the staff could have made a big difference in...

Great! Everything you'd need in a matcha-themed restaurant. Only issue is the sustainability aspect. Seeing as it's mostly a cafe, I expected an easier option for them to accept my reusable cup as every cafe I've been to in Sydney has allowed and accepted this. They had some confusion and asked their manager for help to which they were quite friendly about it. She said to order on the monitor and then tell her the order number so they could make the matcha in my cup instead of the plastic ones. This means I had to 1. Tell them about it at the counter, 2. Order on the screen, 3. Go back to the counter to tell them which number is my order. Between all of the steps there was a queue. If I didn't tell them ahead of time or if they were too busy at the counter my order would've just been counted as another disposable cup order. There needs to be a more streamlined way for someone to order either directly at the counter with a human, or an option on the screen to say "in my own cup". (I did end up using my own cup but my friend also ordered a drink so that's what the photo is, mine didn't arrive yet so I just took the pic before the softserve started melting on us)

Came here Sunday avro for a snack. Music pumping, most tables full and dirty. It was unstaffed you can tell. You can use the screen to self serve, order through an app or order at the counter. Screen had 10% card surcharge. Order took about 15 mins. Self service cutlery and pick up. We got the fried chicken with matcha mayo, takoyaki, yuzu-nade and strong matcha + hokkaido milk soft serve in a cup. The takoyaki was gooey on the inside, savoury! Tasted pretty good! The fried chicken was tender and juicy. It looked like a cutlet that was battered, fried and cut up so not every edge was crispy. The matcha mayo was interesting. Different and balanced the greasiness. I think it needed some tartness or the chicken needed a sweet sauce so it all comes together. The yuza-nade was disappointing, its not carbonated and tasted like the pre-made citron jam tea you can but in a jar. The soft serve had great flavour, strong matcha was mature and bitter and balances well with hokkaido milk which tastes like white rabbit icecream. The texture was not fluffy but liquidy and icy.
