We stayed at the park for one night, location was brilliant, rooms were clean and modern, great access to food and activities around the local vicinity. Our stay was brilliant overall, no complaints about the park. Only downfall was a phone call from the owner hours post checkout questioning why we had used all four beds (2x bunk beds) in the kids room and asking us to explain why we didn’t disclose our children staying. I reviewed our booking through third party booking app & confirmed that we had booked 2A 2C. When collecting the keys & paying for the room the receptionist was aware of there being children on our booking. Our friends were in the cabin next to us & also brought their children. Their children spent time with our children watching their iPads in the evening on the bunk beds in our cabin, something I didn’t believe would be an issue as we paid to use this cabin, all beds included. The owner was very passive aggressive in his initial response, he stated we only paid for 2 adults & “needed to get to the bottom of this”. I was made to feel like I had taken money from his pocket purposefully through deceit & as though I needed to be coughing up more funds for the stay. Our friends in the cabin next door experienced this exact same phone call & only when my friend dug deeper was it discovered that the third party charges per room not per person as the owner thought, an issue of which is out of our control or depth as a customer. The owner was mildly apologetic after the issue had been identified however, this has obviously left a sour taste in our mouths as first...

6 week trip in tassie and this was the best park we stayed at.

Location 5 star - Right on the water. Where the penguins come up... We went to Bicheno and Bruny Island to see them waiting for ages got smashed by mossies and never seen them. Didn't even realise we could see the penguins here and we didn't even have to leave the park. They come to you..

Staff 5 star - Amazing service from reception the lady was so nice on arrival. So welcoming and offered heaps of information. I knew it was going to be a great stay from that experience alone. The cleaning lady was so nice she gave me $1 to save me going to reception with the baby to get more change as the only machine available was an extra $1. And the ground keep was also nice.

Grounds and amenities 5 star - Showers were actually hot, no extra cost, no time limit and they even provided a floor mat to stand on when your drying. Nice big easy access sites / park. We actually had the best site in the park right on the water. And we had internet 🙌

The town had heaps of cool little attractions shops and restaurants weren't overly expensive. The general store next to the park even does hot food and they offered cheap pizzas and free drink if you order 2. I'm so glad we had 3 night at this park.

Highly Recommend it was just such a nice relaxing stay in Stanley. And the fairy penguins experience every night was...

Word travels fast in the caravan circuit. “You have to camp here,” they said. We’ve heard that line before, and more often than not, it ends in disappointment. So we rolled in with expectations set to low.

Then we saw The Nut. Rising up in front of us, the ocean stretching out to the right, deep blue and endless. Maybe—just maybe—this place would live up to the hype.

From check-in to check-out, the staff nailed it. Friendly, efficient, the kind of people who make you feel like they actually want you there. We picked site 27, a lush, green patch perfect for our Silverline. And the wildlife? One night, around 10 p.m., we spotted a penguin waddling around with a young wallaby, like some kind of weird, adorable buddy-cop duo.

The location is prime, with plenty within walking distance. We agreed—this place makes the top five camps in Hobart. Almost perfect. Almost.

Then there was old mate in the tent next to us. He and his wife decided a fire from midday to 10 p.m. was a great idea—despite the no open fires rule. Normally, not a big deal. But thanks to the wind, our van filled with smoke like a cheap BBQ joint.

Reception’s answer? “Well, we do allow fires in certain conditions.” Right. Just another reminder that even the best spots come with a...

Stayed a couple nights in a powered site. Booking and check-in was a breeze. Staff were really nice and friendly. Requested for a view of the water and was not disappointed. However, would recommend a more sheltered spot if you are in a rooftop tent like me. The site we were in had a weird smell during the stay - almost like a septic/bad toilet smell. Unsure if it was from the nearby public toilets or something much closer. Could smell despite the constant wind during our stay. Did not smell anything when walking to other parts of the campsite such as bathroom or kitchen. Bathrooms were clean and tidy. Foot towel provided. Usually have to let my feet air dry in shared bathrooms because I’m not risking my towel touching the ground. That’s some 5 star service right there! Camp kitchen was adequate. Couple of broken kettles/toasters but they had multiple of everything in there so no dramas. Best bit was probably watching the penguins come out at night. Just sit at the picnic tables along the shoreline and enjoy the show!

We stayed 3 nights and understood it was a long weekend. However at $70 per night for a powered site we felt we were being taken a lend of. Firstly we had to get power and water from over the fence of an adjacent relocatable home which severely inhibited where and how we could park our motorhome. The area was obviously an afterthought as there was no shade and it was like a cow paddock without the grass. Uneven with a sandy base. We have stayed around Tasmania over the last 3 weeks and this is the worst experience thus far. Thankfully everything was walking distance or it could have been an absolute waste of time.
