What a gem of a place. While you may not meet the owners face to face, they are readily available by phone whenever there is a need. The quality of the property and everything in it, exudes a luxury that has been thoughtfully designed to delight every guest experience. The billiard room is a delightful added touch, where guests can enter during a certain time each day and enjoy a welcome port. The garden at the back is peaceful, and overlooks the tiny town port below. A laundry and gym are located at the back also. The interior design is stunning, in immaculate condition. The history of the apartment (Roaring Tom's) we stayed at was interesting to read about. Breakfast which was left for us in the apartment when we checked in, was divine, wholesome with great variety in the selection offerings. The coffee brew was perfect as well. Parking is available on site and in the street. I appreciated the clear instructions and directions related to our stay, including the check in process to access keys etc. The Ship Inn Stanley is located in town with easy access to cafes. There is no elevator on site to my knowledge. The apartment was quiet, beds comfortable, everything felt safe and private while the views of the sea were serene. Try the whiskey ice-cream at Stanley seafood if you are in town on a hot day. Free penguin viewing platform a quick drive away is available to use, aim for an average start time 8:30pm during January. Also recommend the chair lift to the go up to the Nut. We enjoyed a lovely walk in the morning on the Nut before returning...
Read moreWe stayed in April at the Ship Inn for a very special family birthday celebration. We booked several rooms. Our family members are all experienced and regular travelers both in Australia and overseas. We all felt the Ship Inn was an excellent place to stay. It ranks amongst the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. The suites are extremely well designed and have exceptional facilities. The guest lounge is a real bonus as we took advantage of this room to collectively meet for drinks and casual eats in the well-equipped little kitchen/dining area and then relaxed in the adjoining stunning lounge. The house staff were also very friendly and lovely to us. The gardens and landscaping are incredible and extremely beautiful. We would like to thank Kerry and Alaistair as the amazing hosts and owners of this property. We all felt very welcomed and the nice extra touches such as having a little welcome card in each room as part of the family group was a lovely thought. The hosts certainly went out of their way to make the celebration special for my son who turned 40 and our family group who came from within and outside of the state for the celebration. Thank...
Read moreI was looking for a cosy place to stop for a few days after a lot of travel and a three day hike. The Ship Inn was perfect. The decor is beautiful and the my attic room, the Greenhills, had everything I needed to curl up with a book or just watch TV while Tassie turned on some wild winter weather outside.
The morning loaf of sourdough made a great breakfast for several of the mornings I stayed, though I also had a full cooked breakfast at one of the recommended local cafes. The other local recommendations were also excellent for evening meals.
The communication before I came was via email and SMS and very helpful and the lockbox key system was low fuss and made checking in and out simple. The guest laundry also proved handy when I got caught in a hail storm on the Nut and got soaked.
The staff were unobtrusive, efficient and friendly when I cam across them. And I met the owner, Alastair, as I was leaving and had a good chat. This is a beautiful property and a perfect base for a few days exploring Stanley and the surrounding region. Very highly...
