My partner and I dropped into Twin Towns on a Saturday after a long day of work — not filthy, just a few dirt marks from the job. We grabbed a beer, signed in with no issues (twice), and went up to the pokies. No one said a word. Staff were polite, no problems at all.
Third time heading up, some overweight security guard with a grey beard decides to single me out and say I’m “too dirty” to go upstairs. Didn’t say a thing to my partner. Didn’t care that we’d already been let up twice, signed in properly, weren’t making any noise or mess, and had just eaten and played the machines.
When I explained that we’d already been upstairs with no issue, he cuts me off with, “Doesn’t matter, I’m telling you now.” Completely dismissive, full power-trip energy, then throws in a sarcastic wave as I’m leaving like he’d just done something heroic.
And here’s the kicker: your own dress code states that casual attire — including workwear — is acceptable, and a higher standard is only required after 7:30pm. We were well within those guidelines. So what’s the deal? Selective enforcement? Or just up to whatever mood the security guy’s in?
We came in peaceful, spent money, followed the rules, and got treated like a problem. Never again. If this is how Twin Towns treats working Aussies just trying to relax after a shift, I’ll be telling...
