Extremely Disappointing Experience
I ordered butter paneer and two butter naans over the phone. During my previous order, they had messed up and packed plain naan instead of butter naan, which tasted like a frozen Haldiram naan heated in a microwave. I had to waste the curry because of the bad naan. When I complained, they promised to give me an extra naan free with my next order to make up for it.
This time, I trusted them again and placed another order. Over the phone, they confirmed they remembered the issue and would include the extra naan. However, when I picked up my order , came home and I was shocked by their lack of customer service. They didn’t include the second naan as promised. I received only one butter naan instead of two. Once again, I had to throw away the curry and ended up going to bed on an empty stomach.
To make matters worse, I ordered paneer butter masala but was given capsicum butter masala, with only 6-7 small pieces of paneer.
I will never return to this place. Their service is terrible and unreliable. For anyone who loves Indian food, I highly recommend trying Shah Jahan or Karma indian instead—they are far...
Read moreWhen it's late in Coolangatta in the Christmas period and you're looking for dinner without a booking (or a booking that was made but wasnt written down @local Thai restaurant, not named because I'm a classy type operator) and it's looking like it's gonna be a Maccas feed, you're fit into Indian Curry Kingdom by the attentive staff (similar to how Mary and Joseph were welcomed into the Manger (conditions at Indian Curry Kingdom are much better than a Manger). Anyway, you're squeezed in and you're greeted by a large diverse dinner menu and a VERY affordable drinks menu. You're already pretty happy that you've got somewhere to eat dinner, and a fairly priced (and nice) drink. But when the food comes your socks (if you're wearing them, I'm more of a thongs type operator) are Literally blown off. I haven't been to India but I imagine this is the authentic butter chicken and mango chicken flavours that you get on the back streets of New Delhi. So overall if you want a 5 star dining experience, with the authenticity of Indian cuisine, this is your place. For the hard aussie battler on a well earned holiday, this is a must go restaurant....
Read moreOur first night visiting Coolangatta we felt like eating some Indian. We went here based on the reviews. We were seated smoothly albeit in a slightly dim part of the restaurant. There weren’t too many people in the restaurant, but food took a little while to reach our table. We’re fine waiting for food as long as the quality is good, however the service let us down - our server forgot our drinks (other tables received theirs well after we ordered) and we were asked if we were ready for the 2nd part of our meal (which of course we were, we’d only eaten papadams and paneer pakoras!). The presentation of our food was beautiful. The papadams and pakoras were great, the cheese and garlic naan was a little dry but full of flavour. My chicken tikka masala was ok, maybe slightly sweet. All in all, I would probably not return for a sit down dinner - service was ok, friendly but forgetful, the atmosphere was a bit dark and food just seemed to slightly miss the...
