Friends that life in Graz always told us that we had to try this place. According to them one of the best Cordon Bleu places in Austria.
This weekend we finally managed to visit the place. We made a call ahead to make sure they are open and that a table is available - the place is small so make sure to reserve a table around the busy lunch or dinner hours.
When you step in you are transformed back in time to a real Austrian Wirtshaus which you know and cherish from your childhood. The even sport a Jukebox in one corner of the seating area. Two Euro get you some songs for your and - everybody's - enjoyment.
The place is run by the chef and his wife. He is responsible for the variety of Cordon Bleus while she keeps the service afloat. The service was quick friendly and attentive. We were warned that we would have to wait a bit since it was quite busy but since we were informed it was fine for us.
They offer variations on the classic Cordon Bleu we had the Styrian (Cheese, Geselchtes, Horseradish) and the Farmer's style (Cheese, bacon, onion). All dishes come with a side of choice.
The Cordon Bleu is homemade made from great ingredients sourced directly from the market / farmer's market on Saturday nearby. The fires are handcut and crisp.
Definitely on of the best Cordon Bleus we had. Give this...

As a tourist needing a gluten-free menu this was a good place to go. Indoors is a dining room that has a classic feel while outdoors is a relaxed setting. Many regulars were coming by to join the cook and waitress at this restaurant, and it would be interesting to be dine with the regulars. The only complaint I have is that the stuffing could have been richer - e.g., the pineapple stuffing my friend tried only had a few pieces of pineapple. While alternative stuffings is a great idea, it needs to be...
Read moreWonderful dining experience here. Food was perfect!!! Felt like a home cooked meal. Had Cordon Blue while the rest of the family had Schnitzel with fries. I have eaten at many high end and sophisticated restaurants on my trip through Europe but none will be as memorable as this one. They cater to those with Gluten intolerance and Celiacs. My son’s gluten free Schnitzel looked and tasted exactly like a regular one with wheat flour. Thank you Gasthaus...
