Friends, this place has turned into a complete disappointment. We actually used to visit it quite often, and everything was good. We came with a group of friends, booked a billiard table, and played as much as we wanted. We could order a drink – beer, coke, or even tea – and everything was perfectly fine.
But just a few days ago, on September 12, 2025, something happened that completely changed our attitude towards this place. When we came with friends, at the entrance an older man – quite heavy, with a belly, probably in his 50s – told us something in German like “not allowed, not allowed.” We didn’t understand, so we asked in English what he meant. He said, “no water.” We were just holding water bottles, and suddenly we were told we couldn’t enter with water. Very strange for this kind of place where people come to play billiards, and we had entered with water many times before without any problem.
Anyway, we thought fine, maybe it’s a rule. We stepped outside, threw away the water, because we wanted to be polite. Then we went inside, to the counter where they hand out billiard balls, and asked if we could play. They said yes, of course, and the hall was actually quite empty – many free tables. At that point, the woman at the bar suddenly says: you must buy a drink. I was shocked. What drink? Why must we buy one? She said: well, you must buy a drink. I said, what kind of nonsense is this? We always just played billiards, and if we wanted drinks, we ordered them later. She didn’t even understand me when I asked in English if this was a new rule, clearly her English was poor.
I told her we absolutely did not want to buy drinks, we just wanted to play billiards. She said we could speak to that same man at the entrance – turns out he was the owner or director! That made it even worse, because his behavior was not only rude but also completely anti-customer. Then the woman added: you need to buy three drinks, since there are three of you – one drink per person. At that point I was completely shocked by the arrogance. All three of us were outraged – why should we be forced to buy three drinks just to play billiards, when we already pay for the table?
So we decided to leave. Luckily, just 300 meters away there’s another billiard place called Brot & Spiele. We went there, had a great time, and told the owner of the first place to his face: we’ll never come back. If they think they can force people to buy drinks in order to play billiards, they’re badly mistaken. With this kind of attitude, the owner will lose all his customers sooner or later.
This was an awful, awful example of customer service, and I honestly would not recommend anyone to go there until they completely rethink their behavior....
Jahrhundert...
Read moreI went there almost every day for the past month, it really made my time in graz great. My friends and me enjoyed it a lot, it wasn't pricey... The atmosphere was really nice. There's a smoking area downstairs and a no smoking area upstairs, and they have football tables there and darts. There's a place to sit both inside...
