Dom im Berg — Attraction in Graz

The Dom im Berg is a venue located within the castle hill of Graz right in the center of Old Town Graz. This location was used as air-raid shelter against the bombardments during World War II. Nowadays it is used as venue for various occasions ranging from club music events, political events and society events of the city of Graz as well as private ones. The event that I participated in this times was the Kinderrechtepreis TrauDi (an annually conducted award to honor the work on the implementation of the Right’s of the Child of various organisations engaged in children’s rights, initiated, organized and conducted by Gerhard H.J. Fruhmann, MA & The Kinderbüro).

I am regularly attending this event as it is one of a kind and unique in this scale, though it already found multiplicators around the world, but the Kinderbüro (Children’s Bureau) was the first to get engaged in the implementation of the UN-Rights of the Child into society and politics, as its work is mostly about political lobbying for a children friendly society.

Different caterer are providing sustenance and therefore it is up to you which caterer you book for your event in this very special and fancy venue called Dom im Berg.

⛰️ Dom im Berg: il cuore pulsante della roccia di Graz

Entrare nel Dom im Berg non è semplicemente varcare una soglia: è scendere nel respiro della città, dove la pietra racconta storie e la luce si piega alla musica. Incastonato nel ventre dello Schlossberg, questo spazio sotterraneo di 733 m² e 11 metri di altezza è una delle location più sorprendenti e poetiche di Graz.

🎭 Perché visitarlo Perché è un luogo che vibra, dove concerti, spettacoli teatrali, festival e serate di clubbing si fondono con l’energia della roccia.

Perché è stato costruito con una visione artistica — quella di Richard Kriesche — e inaugurato nel 2000 come simbolo di rinascita culturale.

Perché ogni evento qui è un’esperienza sensoriale, amplificata dall’acustica naturale e dall’atmosfera quasi mistica.

🕰️ Quando andare La scelta migliore sarebbe durante un concerto serale: la magia è totale quando le luci si accendono e la musica rimbalza sulle pareti di pietra.

In occasione di festival culturali dove il Dom im Berg diventa palcoscenico di sperimentazione e bellezza.

Purtroppo non sempre ci sono queste occasioni, pertanto vi consigliamo i mesi estivi, quando la frescura naturale del luogo offre sollievo e intensità.

🧭 Un consiglio personale Dopo aver partecipato alla gara di orienteering del 6 luglio 2025, ritrovarmi davanti all’ingresso del Dom im Berg è stato come passare dal ritmo del corpo al battito della città. Un contrasto potente, che ti fa sentire parte di qualcosa di più grande.

Keine Ahnung was da am Samstag los war aber das Milkshake Event mit seiner Security war einfach nur die absolute Katastrophe. Loveparade Stimmung beim abholen der Jacken. Auf dem Weg zur Garderobe waren erstmal 2 Schlägereien, um die sich keiner geschert hat. Dann ist auch noch die Security welche für die Sicherheit der Gäste gedacht ist aufeinander losgegangen. Daraufhin verließen die Mitarbeiter die Garderobe und es wurden alle gebeten selbst nach ihren Jacken zu suchen. Kein Respekt vor Eigentum oder kollektiver Sicherheit. Das resultierte in Panik und Diebstahl von Wertsachen, als man die Security darauf ansprach: Wenn du mir so frech kommst kriegst du deine Jacke garnicht. Geld zahlen dafür das man seine Jacke selbst holen darf, Leute darauf rumtrampeln und klauen dürfen. Vielleicht sollte man sich beim nächsten Event eine bessere Sicherheitsfirma zulegen. Das war das erste und das letzte mal dort....
