Berglandhotel — Hotel in Salzburg

We stayed at the Berglandhotel in December 2022. I have been staying at this hotel when visiting Salzburg on and off since 2005. I highly recommend this hotel for any visit or purpose and frequently recommend it to my own friends and family. The rooms are private, clean, modern, and well furnished. There are many small touches throughout the building such as a music room and other common areas, and self-serve beverage refrigerator, that are unique and thoughtful. The housekeeping services are detailed and well executed. The location is easy walking distance to both the Altstadt and Hauptbahnhof, and is also near grocery stores and a number of high quality restaurants and bars. The specific location on a side street is quiet and peaceful, and separated from the busy streets and tourist areas without being too far to walk. The owners and staff are professional, friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. The breakfast is wide-ranging and delicious, and the breakfast room is well appointed. I booked this hotel for our one night in Salzburg and we made arrangements for late arrival after reception had closed. When we got to our room and opened up the sofa bed it had many spots and bugs both living and deceased. The room also had long hairs lying around and the shower looked like it had not been cleaned. We were not comfortable staying in the room and moved to a nearby hotel. I messaged the Bergland to let them know my concerns and try to negotiate a refund with them. Their response to this was to tell me I was lying and cancel my reservation on their end so I was unable to leave a review through Expedia. This hotel was absolutely charming, family run for over 100 years, and perfectly situated nesry the main train station and Old Town. The decor is historic and unique. Much of the artwork throughout the hotel was painted by Mr. Kuhn, the father. To say the staff and family are friendly is an understatement. They were more than accommodating with any request we had. And when we had a problem with our train ticket, they even communicated with OBB and then came to the Salzburg station with us to resolve the issue.
